Midfielder born in Weston-Super-Mare who moved to Margate in 1987 and spent some time in Thanet United's youth ranks before moving on to Gillingham.

Andy played in the Gills' junior teams and was part of the side that won the Kent Youth Cup in 1993 before injury curtailed his spell at Priestfield.

In December 1993 Andy joined Ramsgate and stayed there until the end of the 1993/94 campaign.

After a short spell with Sittingbourne he joined Margate early in the 1994/95 season and Andy played regularly for the club's Under-18's side.

On 12.4.95 he made his first team debut when he came on as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat at Yate and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said Andy "lacked nothing in effort". On 19.4.95 he made his first start when he lined at right-back for a 2-0 defeat at Bury and he ended 1994/95 with a run of four starts in midfield. The last of those games was a 4-0 home defeat against Baldock on 6.5.95 and Andy finished the season having made six appearances (one as sub) without scoring. He also won the Under-18's 'Manager's Player of the Year' award.

During the summer of 1995 Andy was hampered by ankle and lower back injuries but he recovered sufficiently to play regularly for Margate's reserves in the opening months of the 1995/96 campaign. However in November 1995 Andy suffered a recurrence of his back problem during a first team training session that ended his football career.

In 2011 he was working as a Chartered Physiotherapist and Osteopath at his own company 'Team Buckley' based in Canterbury. At that time Andy was also Kent League club Canterbury City's physio.
