Dublin-born keeper who started his career as a trainee at West Ham in 1999. During the 1999/00 season Billy made his reserve team debut and in March 2000 he played in his first Under-16 international for Ireland against Sweden but had to go off injured after only seven minutes. He later won caps at Under-17 and Under-18 level too.

Billy was a regular in West Ham's Under-19's side during the 2000/01 campaign and played alongside the likes of Glen Johnson, Jermain Defoe and future Margate striker Moses Jjunju. He also featured occasionally in the reserves.

The 2001/02 season was Billy's last with the Hammers and in December 2001 he had a trial at Leyton Orient where he played once for the Under-19's and once in the reserves before returning to Upton Park.

In April 2002 Billy had a trial with Gillingham where he played for the Under-19's in a 2-0 home win over Queens Park Rangers and in June 2002 he was released by West Ham. By then he'd made a total of ten reserve team appearances in his three seasons with the Irons.

In the summer of 2002 Billy played for Gillingham's Under-19's in a tournament in Germany and he was chosen as the competition's best goalkeeper as the Gills triumphed.

When Gillingham didn't offer him a deal Billy joined Isthmian League Division 1 side Metropolitan Police for the start of the 2002/03 campaign but he didn't feature in the first team there.

In September 2002 he moved on to Premier Division club Ford and Billy made his debut for them in a 3-1 defeat at Hendon on 8.9.02. He played two more league games before signing for Aldershot, also of the Isthmian League Premier Division, in November 2002.

Billy didn't feature in the Shots senior side and in February 2003 he joined their league rivals Grays.

He spent the remainder of the 2002/03 season with the Essex club but never made a first team appearance.

In the summer of 2003 Billy played in a friendly for Romford but didn't sign for the club and after a few months out of football he linked up with Thurrock in November 2003.

He made his debut in a 4-1 home win over Kingstonian in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 13.12.03 but Billy only made one other league appearance during the 2003/04 campaign and he was briefly loaned to Tilbury where he played once in Division 1 North.

He became Thurrock's first-choice keeper for the 2004/05 season and on 29.1.05 Billy was due to play in a Conference South game against Margate at Ship Lane but twisted his knee during the pre-match warm-up and didn't take part. The injury ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

In August 2005 Billy underwent an appendix operation and by the time he was fit enough to resume playing in November 2005 Glen Knight had become Thurrock's first-choice keeper.

In January 2006 Billy joined Margate on loan as a replacement for the injured Charlie Mitten and he made his debut in an Isthmian League Premier Division game against Staines at Hartsdown Park on 14.1.06. The Thanet Times said he "had a nightmare" afternoon as the visitors raced into a 3-0 lead before Billy suffered a serious knee injury 41 minutes into the game. He had to be carried off and outfield player Hasim Deen took over in goal as Margate eventually lost 5-2. Billy had damaged medial ligaments and immediately returned to Thurrock.

In June 2006 he signed for Billericay and Billy made 15 Isthmian League Premier Division appearances there during 2006/07. He had ten more outings during the early months of the 2007/08 campaign but on 24.11.07 he was stretchered off with another bad knee injury as Billericay lost 1-0 at home to Margate. Billy collided with Margate's Jimmy Jackson and had another long spell on the sidelines as a result. Towards the end of the season Billy played once for AFC Hornchurch during a loan spell with the Isthmian League Premier Division outfit and he left Billericay in the summer of 2008.

Billy turned down the chance of returning to Thurrock to join Brentwood for the 2008/09 campaign but after making 20 appearances for them as captain in Division 1 North he retired suddenly in December 2008 citing injury problems. In March 2009 Billy changed his mind and rejoined Brentwood where he made six more league appearances before the end of the season.

He signed for AFC Hornchurch in August 2009 but Billy only played once for the Urchins before briefly going back to Brentwood. He then dropped out of senior football towards the end of 2009.

In November 2010 Billy made another comeback when he joined Aveley and although he didn't play for their first team during 2010/11 he stayed with the club for the start of the 2011/12 season too.
