Bob made his senior debut in a 7-4 win at Ashford in the Kent Floodlight Cup on 24.3.66 but he wasn't amongst the Margate scorers. He retained his place for the Southern League trip to Cambridge United two days later - a match the home side won 4-0. Bob's last appearance came in the final game of the 1965/66 campaign - the 2nd Leg of the Kent Floodlight Cup Final against Dartford at Hartsdown Park - and Margate went down 5-2.

In June 1966 he was part of the Margate squad that travelled to West Germany for a three match tour but Bob couldn't break into the first team during the first half of the 1966/67 season. He played exclusively for the reserves until early 1967 when he moved on to Snowdown.

On 11.2.67 Bob was part of the Snowdown side that lost 7-0 at home to Margate in a Kent Senior Cup tie.

Bob later had a spell with Brett Sports that included the 1968/69 campaign and he then joined Sittingbourne where he picked up Kent League and Kent League Cup winners medals. Bob was still with the Brickies during the 1972/73 campaign.

He finished his career with a spell at Herne Bay that included the 1976/77 season and Bob was player-manager of the club's reserves during the 1977/78 campaign. He stayed with Herne Bay as a player only for the 1978/79 season, captaining the reserve team.

His younger brother Trevor was also at Snowdown during Bob's time there and Trevor later had a spell with Arsenal before playing in the Football League for Aldershot.
