6' 5" tall defender who started his career as a trainee with Leyton Orient. Chris made his first appearances in the O's youth team during the 2000/01 season and often played alongside future Margate centre-back Mark Goodfellow. Chris continued to progress through Orient's youth ranks and he was a regular in the Under-19 side during the 2002/03 campaign as well as playing for the reserves, he also had a loan spell at Farnborough.

At the start of March 2003 he was loaned to Isthmian League Premier Division club Hayes and Chris made three appearances there before returning to Brisbane Road.

Later in March he had a trial at Bristol Rovers where he played for the reserves and scored an own goal as they lost 2-0 to Wycombe. Chris also played for Cheltenham's reserves before the end of the month as he knew he was going to be released by Orient at the end of the season. In April 2003 he played for Cambridge United's reserves but none of Chris' trials came to anything.

After leaving Orient he played in some of Farnborough's friendlies ahead of the 2003/04 campaign but Chris ended up joining Isthmian League Division 1 club Harlow for the start of the season proper.

He made 18 league appearances for the Essex club (one as sub) before moving on to Grays in December 2003.

Chris scored once from five Isthmian League Premier Division outings (one as sub) for Grays before the end of the 2003/04 campaign and stayed with the club for the start of 2004/05 as they joined the new Conference South. Chris made four more appearances (one as sub) and then signed for Redbridge in November 2004.

He scored on his Conference South debut as Redbridge won 3-2 at Newport on 20.11.04 and on 18.12.04 Chris was sent off in a 5-4 defeat at Lewes.

In January 2005 he moved on to Heybridge and Chris scored once from 10 Isthmian League Premier Division outings there before joining Conference South outfit St.Albans at the end of March 2005.

He made his debut for St.Albans in a 2-1 home defeat against Sutton on 2.4.05 and Chris then played in a 3-2 over Margate at Ashford on 5.4.05 before being sent off in the last minute of a 3-2 defeat at Hayes on 9.4.05. In all he made five appearances (one as sub) before the end of the 2004/05 season.

In the summer of 2005 Chris featured in a friendly for Basingstoke and he then signed for Conference South club Braintree where he started the 2005/06 campaign.

In January 2006 Chris linked up with Maidenhead, also of the Conference South, and spent the rest of the season there.

In August 2006 Chris signed for Margate and made his debut as a substitute in a 5-2 win at Worthing in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 19.8.06. He didn't feature in Margate's next three games but on 2.9.06 Chris made his first start in a 3-0 win over Chelmsford at Hartsdown Park. He then played at centre-back in each of the next nine matches. Chris' last outing came in a 1-0 defeat at his old club Heybridge on 7.10.06 and towards the end of October 2006 he was released. Margate's player-manager Robin Trott told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "Wildy's all right and he'll fit in another team. He did quite well for us at the start, then was bit patchy before I dropped him. The thing is, I don't want OK players in my team. I can't have fringe players starting matches."

Chris joined Isthmian League Premier Division club Chelmsford at the start of November 2006 but only played once - in a 3-0 defeat at Braintree in the Essex Senior Cup on 7.11.06 - before moving on to Hemel Hempstead.

He made his debut for Hemel as they won 3-0 at Northwood in the Southern League Premier Division on 13.11.06 and Chris spent almost a year with the club before joining Barton Rovers in October 2007.

He spent the remainder of the 2007/08 campaign with the Southern League Division 1 Midlands outfit.

In the summer of 2008 Chris returned to the Isthmian League when he signed for Division 1 North club Enfield Town and he captained the Essex club for much of 2008/09, scoring once from 24 appearances.

In April 2009 he joined Southern Football League Division 1 South & West outfit Slough on a dual-registration basis and finished the season there.

Chris stayed with Enfield for the start of the 2009/10 campaign and scored twice from 19 appearances before moving on to Isthmian League Premier Division club Billericay in November 2009.

He settled down at Ricay and by the end of the 2010/11 season Chris had made over 70 appearances for the club. On 13.8.11 he had a lucky escape when he fell two floors from the balcony of a Folkestone hotel room after the concrete he was standing on gave way. Chris only suffered severe bruising and a broken nose but it could easily have been much worse. Billericay were staying in the area following a pre-season friendly at Folkestone and ahead of another game at Sittingbourne which was called off due to Chris' accident.

He made a rapid recovery from his injuries and on 24.9.11 Chris returned to action when he came on as a substitute 60 minutes into a game at East Thurrock. Within four minutes he'd headed what turned out to be the winning goal as Billericay won 2-1 and it was a remarkable comeback for him. At the end of the 2011/12 season Ricay were crowned as Isthmian League Premier Division champions and Chris finished the campaign having scored four times in 28 league outings (two as sub).

He left Billericay in June 2013 after they'd been relegated from the Conference South and Chris then rejoined Enfield Town. The Premier Division club's manager Steve Newing said "Chris is an Enfield lad and has always wanted to come back to the club. Now that we are playing at the same level as Billericay it gave me an opportunity to speak on a level playing field in terms of football at least. I am delighted that Wildy has signed for us and I am sure he will improve us as a team with both his leadership qualities and ability. He is a winner and that will rub off on others around him. We beat off some stiff competition from others who were able to offer more in terms of finance, so getting his signature is even more satisfying."

Chris left Enfield early in December 2013 and didn't play elsewhere during the remainder of the 2013/14 season.

In May 2014 he rejoined Billericay and manager Craig Edwards said "We let him go year before last because I thought he had got too comfortable. He went to Enfield and it didn't work out there for whatever reason and he left there before Christmas. He hasn't played since then and the break from football has probably been good for him as he's got a real hunger to get back. We had a discussion towards the end of the season and then had a follow-up chat. He says he's in better shape than he has been for the last ten years. He's been boxing and is very fit. He said all the right things when I met him and he assures me he will be in the top three for fitness in the squad, which is some statement as we've got some really fit boys. He's dangerous in both boxes and he's one of the best defenders in this division. We're delighted to have him back."

In July 2014 Chris left Billericay again, citing personal reasons. Craig Edwards said "It is a real shame that Wildy has had to leave. He runs his own business and has a young family, so he felt that he wasn't able to commit fully to the club. With training on Tuesday and Thursday, matches on Saturdays and other midweek fixtures, it is all just a little bit too much for him. He has to put his business and family first, which is something that I completely understand. I am gutted and so was he. He looked in great shape and we were delighted to have him with us. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out but we completely respect his decision and he is as devastated as we are."
