Cyril was released by the Rams at the end of the 1960/61 season and crossed Thanet to join Margate in the summer of 1961.

Cyril made his debut in a 1-0 defeat against Wisbech in the Southern League on 19.8.61 but he was in and out of the side during 1961/62. He made a total of 30 appearances and scored seven times. He impressed with his work-rate and his goals included two in a 3-2 win at Hastings on 11.4.62. On 12.5.62 Cyril played as Margate beat visitors Folkestone 4-0 to win the Kent Senior Shield and he also scored 12 goals in 17 appearances for the reserves.

The 1962/63 season saw Cyril establish himself and he made 40 first team appearances, scoring 12 goals. He was one of the stars of the Margate side that won the Southern League Division One title and was always willing to take on defenders as well as being a constant danger with his accurate shooting. On 3.11.62 he scored as Margate lost 3-1 at Millwall in the FA Cup 1st Round and Cyril's goals also included a superb solo effort in a 2-2 draw with King's Lynn at Hartsdown Park on 10.11.62. He beat four defenders before firing home a 20 yard shot. On 1.6.63 Cyril got the winning goal as Margate beat Bexleyheath & Welling 1-0 in the Final of the Kent Senior Shield at Hartsdown Park but that turned out to be his last outing for the club. He was released at the end of the season.

Cyril joined Sittingbourne for the start of the 1963/64 campaign but moved on to Gravesend & Northfleet later in the season.

He went on to make a total of 48 appearances for the Fleet during 1963/64 and 1964/65 and scored seven goals.

Cyril then moved to Canterbury for the 1965/66 season and went on to make 88 Southern League appearances (two as sub) for City up to and including the 1967/68 campaign. He scored 13 goals during that time.

After a short spell with Deal, Cyril joined Hastings United during the 1968/69 season and in the summer of 1969 he became the club's player-manager. He continued in that role until 1971 and later became player-manager of Sussex League club Sidley. Cyril's spell in charge there included the 1975/76 season.

In November 1978 Cyril left Sidley to rejoin Hastings as manager and vowed "I am going to get this club straightened out if it's the last thing I do" but he resigned in February 1979 after only a few months at the helm.

In later years Cyril managed Shinewater and in August 2002 he was living in Bexhill-on-Sea, at that time he was assistant manager of Eastbourne United. He then had an eight week spell as the club's manager from December 2002 before departing.
