Ramsgate-born player who began his career in Thanet youth football and had trials at Coventry during the 1973/74 and 1975/76 seasons.

Dale then joined Dover and played for their reserves during the 1977/78 campaign. At the time his father Gordon, a former Margate full-back, was Dover's reserve team manager.

In the summer of 1978 Dale moved to Canterbury and he was the only ever-present in City's Southern League side during the 1978/79 season, making 40 appearances and scoring three goals.

Dale joined Ashford for the start of the 1979/80 campaign and made five Southern League appearances there before moving on to Margate in October 1979.

He made his debut in a 0-0 draw at Dartford on 9.10.79 and went on to make a total of 39 appearances during the remainder of 1979/80. Dale usually played in midfield but also featured as a centre-back and in an attacking role during the season. He scored twice, both goals coming in matches against Chelmsford. Dale scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at Hartsdown Park on 5.1.80 and was on target again as Margate won the return game 2-1 on 12.4.80.

In the summer of 1980 Dale left the club and joined Whitstable for the 1980/81 campaign. He stayed with the Oystermen for the 1981/82 season too.

He then joined Herne Bay for the 1982/83 campaign and went on to spend several years with the club during the 1980's before returning to Whitstable for a further spell that spanned the 1985/86-1991/92 seasons.

Dale's brother Grant also played for several Kent League clubs and Dale was still living locally in 2011. At that time he was working as a Building Surveyor for Thanet District Council.
