Danny linked up with Margate for the start of the 1994/95 campaign and made his debut as a substitute in a 3-1 win over Bashley at Hartsdown Park on 20.8.94, the opening day of the season. After appearing twice more as a sub Danny made his first start in a 1-0 defeat at Braintree on 29.8.94 and then dropped back to the bench. He made three further sub appearances in Margate's next three matches but after the last of them - a 2-0 home win over Merstham in the FA Cup on 10.9.94 - Danny left the club.

He returned to Greenwich after his departure from Hartsdown Park and then joined Erith & Belvedere for the start of the 1995/96 campaign.

Danny spent three seasons with the Deres but only made 33 appearances before moving on to VCD in the summer of 1998.

He linked up with Herne Bay for the start of the 1999/00 campaign but towards the end of the season Danny joined Ringmer.

In the summer of 2000 he signed for Redhill and became the club's captain for 2000/01 but in October 2001 Danny suffered a double fracture of his ankle and leg during a match with Shoreham that ended his senior career.

His surname was sometimes listed as being 'Owens' rather than 'Owen'.
