Ramsgate-born player who attended Holy Cross School in Broadstairs and had spells on the books of Sheffield United and Luton as a youngster before moving on to Gillingham.

Dave featured in the Gills' youth team and then signed for Ramsgate ahead of the 1977/78 season. He won the Rams' 'Young Player of the Year' award for the campaign.

In the summer of 1978 he joined Margate and Dave played a few reserve team games before moving on to Canterbury shortly before the end of 1978.

He scored twice on his debut for City and went on to make 18 Southern League appearances during 1978/79, scoring four goals in the process.

In March 1979 Dave returned to Thanet and rejoined Ramsgate.

He also started the 1979/80 season with the Rams but in September 1979 Dave returned to Margate and made his first team debut in a 2-0 defeat at Dorchester on 8.9.79. He played in midfield but later featured as a striker on a few occasions as he went on to make a total of 15 appearances, four of them as a substitute. On 13.11.79 Dave was sent off in a Kent Senior Cup tie against Ramsgate after clashing with Alan Draper. In December 1979 Dave went back to Ramsgate and went on to spend several seasons there before linking up with Herne Bay for 1984/85.

In the summer of 1985 Dave returned to Hartsdown Park for the third time and became a regular in Thanet United's reserves during the 1985/86 campaign. He also made four first team appearances, two of them as a substitute. Dave's first senior start came in a 2-1 defeat at Chatham on 8.10.85 and he also played in midfield during a 2-1 win over Canterbury at Hartsdown Park on 22.10.85. Dave made his final first team appearance on 26.11.85 when he came on as sub during an Eastern Floodlight Cup tie against Sittingbourne at Hartsdown Park on 26.11.85. His cross from the left wing led to a debut goal for Clive Yeo. Dave then returned to the reserves for the rest of the season before leaving the club in the summer of 1986.

He went on to have two spells with Whitstable, the first including the 1987/88 and 1988/89 seasons and the second one starting during the 1989/90 campaign. In the period between his stints with the Oystermen Dave had been forced to give up football for some time due to a serious knee injury.

He later returned to Ramsgate once more and appeared for the Rams during the 1991/92, 1992/93 and 1993/94 seasons. In August 1993 Dave was sent off in a home game against Chatham.

In 2013 he was a company director and living in West Molesey, Surrey.
