Thanet-born player who initially joined Thanet United in October 1983 and played regularly for the reserves during the remainder of the 1983/84 season.

David then moved to Ramsgate for the 1984/85 campaign and he also played for them during 1985/86, usually in the reserves.

After a spell in local amateur football David returned to Hartsdown Park in the summer of 1988 and became a regular in Thanet United's reserves, making 21 appearances for them during the 1988/89 season and scoring six goals. He also made a handful of first team appearances, making his debut as a substitute in a 3-0 home win over Ruislip on 7.1.89. David did well enough to earn a starting place for United's next game on 14.1.89 and the Thanet Times said that he "strove might and main" up front during the 1-1 draw at Dunstable. He kept his place for the home game against Andover on 21.1.89 but after Thanet lost 4-0 David returned to the reserves for the remainder of the season. On 11.2.89 he played in goal for them during the second half of a 4-0 defeat at home to Sheppey after regular keeper Andy Garrod was carried off and David didn't concede during his spell between the sticks.

He stayed with the club for the start of the 1989/90 campaign but only made one substitute appearance for Margate's reserves before joining Ramsgate in September 1989. A few months later David broke his leg in a Sunday League match.

In later years he played locally for clubs including Active Signs and David was still turning out for Thanet Sunday Football League outfit Prestige Insurance during the 2009/10 season. He was in his mid-40's by then.
