Tall blonde defender born in Birmingham who began his career at Sheppey during the 1979/80 season before moving on to Sittingbourne for the 1980/81 campaign.
Dean joined Chatham for the 1982/83 season and then returned to Sittingbourne for 1984/85. He scored for the Brickies as they beat Thanet 3-2 in an FA Cup tie at Hartsdown Park on 15.9.84.
Dean was soon on the move again and he returned to Sheppey early in 1985. In the summer of 1985 he joined Thanet.
Dean was hampered by an ankle injury during the opening weeks of the 1985/86 season and as a result he didn't make his United debut until 18.9.85, ironically in a Southern League Cup tie at Sheppey. He came on as a substitute as Thanet won 2-1 but only made one full appearance, in the return game with Sheppey at Hartsdown on 1.10.85, before leaving the club.
Dean joined Sittingbourne for a third spell in October 1985 and stayed with the club until linking up with Sheppey again for the 1987/88 campaign.
During 1988/89 he had brief spells with Faversham and Canterbury (where he made five Southern League appearances) before rejoining Sittingbourne yet again in February 1989.
Dean later had a short spell at Whitstable where he made three appearances (one as sub) between September and November 1990.
He was last heard of during the 1991/92 campaign when he had a brief spell with Tonbridge early in the season, making six appearances (two as sub) and scoring once. The goal came on his debut against Whitstable on 10.8.91.
