Deren stayed with the Darts for the 2008/09 campaign and his display for the first team in a 3-2 home win over Hastings in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round on 13.9.08 earned him the accolade of 'Player of the Round'. Deren was given a trophy by competition sponsors E.ON and also won a pair of tickets to the 2009 FA Cup Final.

He spent the 2009/10 season on loan at Isthmian League Division 1 South club Sittingbourne and Deren made 51 appearances for the Brickies in all competitions. He was part of the side that won 3-1 at Folkestone to claim the Kent Senior Cup on 4.5.10 and future Margate striker Tom Bradbrook was one of Sittingbourne's goalscorers that day. Deren also won the Brickies 'Young Player of the Year' award.

In August 2010 Dartford loaned Deren to St.Andrews of the Maltese 1st Division (the second tier of football on the island) for three months and he scored with a drop-kick on his debut.

After a few months back at Dartford where he played twice in the Conference South Deren joined Margate in March 2011 on a dual-registration basis to cover for the injured Jamie Turner. He was caretaker manager Kevin Raine's first signing and Deren was 20 at the time.

On 26.3.11 he made his debut in a 2-2 draw with AFC Hornchurch in an Isthmian League Premier Division game at Hartsdown Park and in doing so Deren became the first post-World War II player with a surname beginning with the letter 'I' to appear for Margate and only the second ever in the club's entire history.

He started each of the next four games and Deren also played in the Kent Senior Cup for Dartford during his spell with Margate as well as being on the subs bench for some Conference South matches. He stayed with the Darts for the 2011/12 campaign as they won promotion to the Conference but Deren rarely played and at the end of the season he was released.

In June 2012 he signed for Isthmian League Division 1 South club Maidstone and on 14.7.12 Deren played in the Stones' first ever game at their new stadium in James Whatman Way - a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton. He then spent much of 2012/13 as Maidstone's first-choice custodian after former Margate keeper Charlie Mitten broke his arm. Deren made a total of 39 starts in all competitions as the Stones won promotion to the Premier Division via the play-offs but in May 2013 he was released. Player-manager Jay Saunders told Maidstone's website "It's been a pleasure having Deren here and he was a big part of our promotion campaign. He has a great future in the game and everyone at the club wishes him every success in the future."

In the summer of 2013 Deren joined Division 1 South outfit Leatherhead on a dual-registration basis from Dartford and made his debut for them in a 1-0 win at Ramsgate on 10.8.13. He also worked as an academy coach for Dartford at that time.
