Energetic red-haired Thanet-born winger who joined Margate during the 1946/47 season and went on to become a regular in the reserves for several years, also making numerous first team appearances.

Don made his senior debut on 24.5.47 as Margate went down 3-1 at Snowdown in the penultimate Kent League fixture of the season. He scored the Margate goal but had to wait almost a year for his next first team outing.

His only appearance of the 1947/48 campaign was on 30.4.48 and he was on the losing side once more as Margate lost 3-1 at Maidstone.

Don then made six further first team appearances during the closing weeks of the 1948/49 season. He scored once during that spell.

During the 1949/50 season Don played just once for the first team but continued to be a mainstay of the reserves for the whole campaign.

During the 1950/51 season Don made a total of six first team appearances, scoring three times.

He also played twice during the 1951/52 season and added another goal to his tally.

However he left the club in the summer of 1952 and joined Whitstable but in December 1952 he moved to Ramsgate.

Don later had a spell with Herne Bay and played for them during the 1954/55, 1955/56, 1956/57 and 1957/58 seasons.

During the 1961/62 season he was playing for Thanet Press in the Kent Amateur League.

In February 1970 Don returned to Margate, some 18 years after leaving , and took over the running of the club's reserve and 'A' teams in the wake of Terry Morris' suspension from football. He left Margate once more at the end of the 1969/70 season.

Don died in Thanet in 1977.
