Blonde defender who was a Charlton player and trainee physio for the Addicks when he joined Margate on loan in September 1989.

Gary made his debut in a 2-1 win at Salisbury on 9.9.89 and the Thanet Times said that he had "an immaculate game" in the centre of the Margate defence. He also impressed in his second appearance a few days later as Margate beat Corinthian 1-0 in a Southern League Cup tie at Hartsdown Park. The Isle of Thanet Gazette said that Gary was "a real bonus in defence", this time at right-back. He kept his place for Margate's next four games up to the end of September 1989 but Gary then went back to Charlton for the best part of two months, only featuring once in the next 13 matches - a 2-2 draw at Sheppey on 17.10.89. On 25.11.89 Gary made his return to the Margate side in a 0-0 draw with Bury at Hartsdown and the Thanet Extra said that he "had an outstanding match". He then played regularly again until the end of December 1989.

After the turn of the year Gary's appearances became increasingly sporadic and this was mainly due to his work as a physio at Charlton who were playing at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park at the time. In January 1990 Gary filled in for Palace's regular physio for a first team game and he also often acted as physio for Charlton's reserves during the season.

After a lengthy spell out of the Margate side Gary made a comeback on 31.3.90 as Dunstable won a Southern League game 2-1 at Hartsdown. It was his last home appearance for the club. Gary then travelled with the squad for a 'double header' weekend featuring matches at Witney and Yate on 7.4.90 and 8.4.90 respectively. He filled in at left-back in both games but after the trip he was dismissed by the club for disciplinary reasons. They related to an escapade in which the team coach made an unscheduled trip to Bristol on the night before the Sunday game at Yate. The same incident led to Alan Scotting also being sacked whilst Richard Hemmings, John Love and Carl Scriven were fined. Gary had made 21 appearances without scoring before his fall from grace.

He later became Charlton's assistant physio and worked with the first team squad in that role during the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons before leaving the club.

By 2008 Gary had become a fireman.
