Margate-born player who was actually the first baby ever to be born at Margate General Hospital after it was built in 1930.

George joined Margate for the 1947/48 season and played for the reserves throughout the campaign. He also made two first team appearances towards the end of the season.

George played on the left wing in a 4-3 Kent League Cup win at Maidstone on 27.3.48, scoring one of Margate's goals, and then had a game at right-back in a 7-3 home defeat against the same opponents on 1.5.48.

He continued to play in the reserves during the 1948/49 campaign by which time his brother Charlie was also on Margate's books.

George worked at Thanet Press for many years and played for the works' side in local amateur football. He turned out for their veterans team in a charity match at The Royal School for the Deaf in Margate in March 1959.

In 2012 George's son Bob was a regular at Margate games at Hartsdown Park and George died in Margate towards the end of that year.
