Glasgow-born defender who played for Highland League club Fraserburgh before moving to England in 1988.

George joined Thanet United for the start of the 1988/89 season and made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Buckingham on 27.8.88. The Thanet Times said that he "took the eye with some timely interceptions" at right-back. George then dropped back into the reserves and missed United's next five games before returning to the side for an FA Trophy tie against Hitchin at Hartsdown on 24.9.88. He played as a centre-back in a 1-0 win. He then wore the number five shirt in two of Thanet's next three games and the Thanet Times said that he "marshalled his backs in fine style" as United lost 3-1 at home to Fisher in an FA Cup tie on 1.10.88. After playing in a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Canterbury in a Southern League Cup tie on 11.10.88 George returned to the reserves and in November 1988 he left the club and joined Herne Bay. He'd made four first team appearances and played seven games for the reserves, scoring once for them. The Thanet Times said he had "looked a useful defender during his short stay".

George stayed at Herne Bay until moving on to Kent County League club Phoenix Rovers just after the start of the 1989/90 season. He was sent off for them in a match against Herne Bay early in 1990 and had to be escorted off by team-mates after initially refusing to leave the field.

George started the 1992/93 campaign at Canterbury City and in September 1992 he had to play an entire game in goal for City's reserves. They only had eight players and went down 11-0 to their Chatham counterparts.

George later linked up with Whitstable and played exclusively for their reserves during the early part of 1994/95 before dropping into local Thanet amateur football for a few more seasons.

In 2011 he was still living in Thanet and refereeing in local football.
