Hackney-born left winger who played for Southall and Walthamstow early in his career before joining Southend. George made 32 first team appearances for them spanning the 1935/36-1937/38 seasons.

His next move took him to Bristol City and George made 37 senior appearances there during the 1938/39 campaign, scoring ten goals.

He then joined Clapton Orient in the summer of 1939 and went on to make 69 wartime appearances there, scoring 28 goals, between 1939 and 1943. George stayed with the O's until after World War II by which time the club were known as Leyton Orient. He made his last appearance for Orient during the 1946/47 season and then joined Margate on trial during the 1947/48 season.

George made his debut in a 1-0 defeat at Betteshanger on 27.9.47 and also wore the number eleven shirt as Margate lost 3-0 to Dartford in an FA Cup tie at Hartsdown Park on 4.10.47. He left the club shortly afterwards having not been offered a permanent deal.

George died in the Portsmouth area in September 1993 aged 80.
