Attacking full-back born in Maldon, Essex who played for Essex schoolboys and had spells in the youth sides at first Norwich and then Ipswich before being signed by Arsenal. Greg made his first youth team appearance for the Gunners during the 1996/97 season.

He became a regular in Arsenal's youth team during 1997/98 and in July 1998 Greg signed schoolboy forms aged 17. He continued to be a fixture in the youth team during 1998/99 and 1999/00. During the latter season Greg also made one substitute appearance for the reserves and in July 2000 he was signed as a professional. During the 2000/01 campaign he played regularly for the reserves whilst still featuring for the youth side.

Despite being troubled by injuries during 2001/02 Greg continued to be a regular in the Gunners reserve team and in January 2002 he had a trial at Colchester where he played in the reserves. In March 2002 he had further trials at Sheffield Wednesday and Leyton Orient, playing in reserve matches for each of them during that month. At the end of the 2001/02 season Arsenal released him and by then Greg had made a total of 28 reserve team appearances (three as sub) in addition to his 83 youth team outings (11 as sub). He never scored for the reserves but did manage four goals for the youth team.

In July 2002 Greg had a trial with Conference club Dagenham & Redbridge and featured in some of their pre-season friendlies but before the month was out he signed a two-year contract with Margate, turning down an offer from the Daggers. Assistant manager Kevin Raine told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "We hope he is going to play a big part in our season. He told us one of the major factors in him choosing us was that he liked the way we tried to play football."

Greg made his debut for Margate aged 20 in a 1-1 draw with Morecambe in a Conference game played at the clubs temporary home at Dover on 17.8.02. He instantly caught the eye with his rampaging runs from his right wing-back position. Greg scored in his next outing - a 1-1 draw at Kettering on 20.8.02 - firing home a 20-yarder after what the Isle of Thanet Gazette described as "a characteristic powerful run up the right wing". The paper then said he "has made a real impression" in its report on a 3-0 win over Forest Green at Dover on 26.8.02 but on 28.9.02 Greg pulled a hamstring in a 1-0 win at Burton and missed the next three matches. He'd played in all 12 of Margate's games up to that point. Greg returned for a 1-0 win over Southport at Dover on 19.10.02 and was virtually ever-present after that.

On 16.11.02 he played in a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient in the 1st Round Proper of the FA Cup and Greg also featured in the replay at Dover on 26.11.02 that Margate won 1-0. That led to him being part of the side that lost 3-0 to Cardiff at Dover in the 2nd Round on 7.12.02.

On 14.12.02 Greg scored in a 3-1 win at Stevenage and it was a brilliant solo effort as he picked the ball up in his own half, beat a defender and then ran on 50 yards before confidently slotting home. He continued to shine with his buccaneering runs from right wing-back and the Nationwide football website described Greg as a "useful performer" in its report on a 2-0 win over Leigh at Dover on 8.2.03. He was selected in the England non-league party for a game in Belgium on 11.2.03 but unfortunately fixture clashes meant that all Conference players were removed from the squad.

On 1.3.03 he scored with a lob in a 2-1 win over Woking at Dover and the Thanet Times said Greg's effort was "sublime". The paper then praised his attacking prowess in a report on a 0-0 draw with Burton at Dover on 15.3.03 and called Greg "consistent". The paper said he was "one of the few players to shine" in another 0-0 draw at Dover - against Farnborough on 19.4.03 - and Greg finished the campaign by playing as Margate won 2-1 at Welling on 30.4.03 to claim the Kent Senior Cup. The Isle of Thanet Gazette picked him as its 'Player of the Season' and Greg had made 48 appearances, scoring three times.

He was a fixture in the side at the start of the 2003/04 campaign and on 13.9.03 Greg scored what turned out to be his only goal of the season in a 3-2 defeat at Accrington in the Conference. On 23.9.03 he broke his nose after a clash of heads with team-mate Sam Sodje in a 1-0 defeat against Barnet at Dover and although Greg had to go off at half-time he played in Margate's next game four days later. Towards the end of October he was called up for the England semi-professional squad again, once more for a game against Belgium due to be played on 4.11.03, but Greg then pulled a hamstring in a 3-3 draw with Grays in an FA Cup tie played at Ashford on 28.10.03. The injury ruled him out of the England party and Greg missed Margate's next five matches having started each of the first 17 games of the season at right wing-back.

He returned to the side in a 1-1 draw at Farnborough on 6.12.03 and the Thanet Times said Greg "gradually got back in his stride". He was a regular once again after that and the Thanet Times said he "impressed on the right" in a 2-0 defeat against Shrewsbury at Dover on 14.12.03. The paper then described Greg as "the most creative player Margate had" in its report on a 1-1 draw at Exeter on 17.1.04 and said he had "provided a constant supply of dangerous balls from the right". The Isle of Thanet Gazette said Greg was "excellent" in a 2-0 win over Dorchester in an FA Trophy replay played at Ashford on 20.1.04 whilst the Thanet Times said he was "probably the pick of the performers with his non-stop effort up and down on the right" in its report on a 2-0 win over Halifax at Dover on 8.2.04.

On 14.2.04 Greg set up Margate's third goal in a 3-0 win against Northwich at Witton Albion with what the Thanet Times said was "a characteristic charge down the wing" and he maintained his good form during the closing months of the campaign. Greg's last appearance of the season saw him pick up another Kent Senior Cup winners' medal as Margate won 2-1 at Folkestone on 28.4.04 and he'd played 45 times in all by then. In its round-up of the 2003/04 campaign the Isle of Thanet Gazette said that Greg "didn't reach the heights of his first season with the club" but had given "a solid show in the difficult wing-back position".

Margate were demoted to the Conference South for the 2004/05 campaign and Greg started the first six games of the season at right wing-back before missing a 3-1 win over Hayes at Margate's adopted home in Ashford on 4.9.04. He returned to the side for a 1-0 defeat against Weymouth at Ashford on 11.9.04 and on 25.9.04 Greg scored with what the Thanet Times said was a "brilliant free-kick" in a 2-1 defeat at Redbridge, curling a 25-yard effort into the top corner. Unfortunately he then picked up a knee injury in Margate's next game - a 2-1 win over Waltham Forest in the FA Cup at Ashford on 2.10.04 - and Greg had to go off at half-time before sitting out the next seven matches.

He made his comeback as a substitute in a 3-3 draw at St.Albans on 20.11.04 and the Thanet Times said it was "a surprise return" as it was initially thought Greg's knee would need an operation. He then resumed his duties in the number two shirt in a 2-1 defeat at Basingstoke on 27.11.04 and after that Greg was a regular again for the next few months although his performances were clearly being hampered by his knee problem. Often Margate's lack of defensive options meant that Greg had to play even when really he wasn't fit to do so.

On 26.2.05 he scored his second goal of the season in a 2-2 draw at Weston-Super-Mare with what the Thanet Times described as a "characteristic" free-kick which curled around the wall and into the net. Greg continued to play through pain until 25.3.05 when he had to go off after 32 minutes of a 5-0 defeat at Grays. The Thanet Times said he'd "battled on manfully despite a knee injury" and after that Greg missed three games. He returned in a 2-1 defeat against Dorchester at Ashford on 9.4.05 but Greg broke down again and had to sit out the last four matches of the campaign as Margate's relegation to the Isthmian League Premier Division was confirmed. He scored twice from 34 outings (one as sub) during the season.

Greg had a knee operation shortly after the end of the 2004/05 campaign and in July 2005 he signed a new one-year contract. Margate director Keith Piper told the Thanet Times "It's excellent news that Greg is staying on - he's a quality player and will be a key for us." Manager Chris Kinnear agreed and told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "It was very important to keep him." On 20.8.05 Greg played as Margate beat Maldon 1-0 in the Isthmian League Premier Division and it was the club's first game back at the temporary version of Hartsdown Park. He'd featured in 15 of the first 18 matches of the new season when he broke his arm after falling awkwardly during a 1-0 win at Braintree on 29.10.05. Greg had to have a four inch plate and six screws inserted into his arm and he missed the next 11 games.

He returned to the side in the number two shirt as Margate lost 3-1 at Redbridge on 2.1.06 and after that Greg enjoyed a good run of starts. The Thanet Times said he "put in some lovely balls" in a 2-1 win over East Thurrock at Hartsdown Park on 4.2.06 but on 18.2.06 Greg was suffering from the effects of 'flu as Margate drew 1-1 with visitors Braintree and he had to leave the field to be sick at one point. He missed the next match and then came on as a sub in a 1-0 defeat at Chelmsford on 3.3.06 before resuming his right wing-back duties for the remainder of the campaign. The Isle of Thanet Gazette said he was "bombing forward" throughout a 1-1 draw with Windsor & Eton at Hartsdown Park on 4.4.06 and by the end of the season he'd played 35 times (once as sub) without scoring.

On the eve of the 2006/07 campaign Margate's new player-manager Robin Trott spoke to the Isle of Thanet Gazette about Greg and said "Greg doesn't know his own ability, he's better than he thinks he is. We're trying to build his confidence and get him back to his old self." Greg started eight of Margate's first nine games in the number two shirt but after a 0-0 draw against Fleet in an FA Cup tie at Hartsdown Park on 16.9.06 he missed two matches due to injury. He returned as a substitute in a 0-0 home draw with Bromley and made one more sub appearance before sitting out another two games.

On 17.10.06 Greg made his first start for over a month in a 3-2 defeat at Billericay in the Isthmian League Premier Division and then played at right-back in each of Margate's next three matches but after a 1-0 defeat at Gloucester in the FA Trophy on 4.11.06 he missed another four games. Greg's stop-start campaign looked set to continue as he made a comeback as a substitute in a 2-1 win at Tonbridge on 25.11.06 and then missed the next match but after he started in a 4-0 win at Horsham on 9.12.06 Greg was ever-present for the remainder of the season.

On 6.2.07 he scored the only goal with nine minutes remaining as Margate beat Carshalton 1-0 at Hartsdown Park and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said Greg had "lashed home a tremendous winner". The paper described how he "bombed forward to collect a fantastic Danny Hockton pass, took a touch and powered the ball into the top corner".

On 14.4.07 Greg made his 200th appearance for Margate in a 3-1 win at Chelmsford and on 28.4.07 he wore the number two shirt for what turned out to be the last time in a 1-0 defeat at Hendon. After scoring once from 40 outings (three as sub) during 2006/07 Greg was released in May 2007 and Robin Trott told the Thanet Times "Greg's not had a bad season and towards the end of it I thought he was excellent for us, but I'm just looking for something a bit different." Greg had been Margate's longest-serving player before his departure.

He joined his hometown club Maldon for the start of the 2007/08 campaign and Greg made 20 appearances for them in the Isthmian League Division 1 North without scoring before signing for Premier Division outfit Chelmsford in January 2008.

Greg made six appearances (one as sub) for Chelmsford before suffering a serious knee injury in February 2008 that ended his season. Greg stayed with City for the 2008/09 campaign as he gradually regained his fitness but only made played twice in Essex Senior Cup ties before being released in February 2009 at the same time as former Margate striker Bertie Brayley.

Greg returned to Maldon for the remainder of 2008/09 and made 12 Isthmian League Division 1 North appearances (two as sub) before the end of the season.

In the summer of 2009 he joined Billericay and Greg made 24 Isthmian League Premier Division appearances (one as sub) during the 2009/10 campaign. He had another 30 league outings during 2010/11 and Greg also spent the 2011/12 season with Ricay. After suffering a fractured ankle in September 2011 he recovered in time to play a part in the club's surge to the league title and Billericay were confirmed as champions after drawing 2-2 at Margate on 21.4.12. Fittingly Greg was in their side that day and in all he made 26 league appearances (one as sub) without scoring during 2011/12.

He left Billericay towards the end of October 2012 and manager Craig Edwards told the club's official website "Greg doesn't want to be sitting on the bench at this stage of his career. He needs and wants to be playing. He's a great lad and has been an excellent servant to the club and goes with our thanks and good wishes." After leaving Billericay Greg opted to retire at the age of 31.
