Season of first appearance: 1976/77

Locally-born player who initially joined Margate during the 1972/73 season and played exclusively for the reserves at that time.

Greg also played for the reserves during the 1973/74 campaign and some of his appearances were as a goalkeeper.

He then dropped into local football but returned to Margate in March 1977 and made his first team debut as a substitute in a 3-2 defeat at Dartford on 26.3.77. Greg made one further substitute appearance before the end of the 1976/77 season and also came on as sub in a Kent Senior Shield tie against Ramsgate on 6.8.77 before joining Canterbury later that month in an exchange deal that took Bob Walter to Margate.

He went on to make 37 Southern League appearances (two as sub) for City and scored twice before signing for Ramsgate during the early part of the 1978/79 season.

In September 1979 Greg returned to Margate once more, this time on loan from Ramsgate. He played as a striker in a 1-1 draw with Hillingdon at Hartsdown on 1.9.79 but quickly returned to Southwood.

He then had a spell with Herne Bay before returning to Ramsgate in November 1981. Greg went on to spend several more seasons with the Rams and also played for Deal.

During the 1984/85 campaign he returned to Hartsdown Park to play for Thanet United's reserve side and then dropped back into local amateur football.

Greg kept playing until 2000 when he was 46, finally retiring after a spell with Thanet League club Margate Athletic Old Boys whose squad of veterans also included a host of other former Margate / Thanet players.

In 2006 he was living in Cliftonville and had been an independent financial adviser for 28 years. On 12.4.06 Greg came out of retirement for what he called "the very very last time" and certainly went out at the top by playing for a Nationwide side in a game at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Despite managing to pull his hamstring Greg enjoyed the experience and said that he couldn't think "of a better way and place to finally hang the boots up forever ! - what a way to finally end my footballing career."

Greg sadly died on 29.4.11 aged only 56.
