Lambeth-born attack-minded player who started his career as a trainee at Arsenal, joining the club as a nine year-old before graduating to the Gunners' academy in the summer of 1999 aged 16. Jermaine spent two years in the academy that was run by the legendary Liam Brady and was part of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2001, featuring as a substitute in both legs of the final against Blackburn.

In the summer of 2001 Jermaine was given a professional contract and he played regularly for Arsenal's reserves during the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons having made his debut for them during 2000/01. He'd made 36 reserve team appearances (11 as sub) and scored seven goals by the time he was released in June 2003. Jermaine had also previously made 53 appearances (13 as sub) in the Gunners' Under-17 and Under-19 sides and scored 20 goals.

In the summer of 2003 Jermaine had an extended trial with Bristol City where he played in the reserves but when City decided not to offer him a contract he moved on to 2nd Division (later League One) club Colchester in October 2003.

Jermaine made his debut for Colchester as a substitute in a Football League Trophy quarter final tie at Wycombe on 9.12.03. The match went to extra time and he came on two minutes from the end with the scores level at 2-2 before striking a dramatic last-minute winner. Jermaine went on to make five more starts for Colchester but he was released shortly after playing in a 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United on 15.2.04.

He then played in a reserve team game for Crystal Palace before signing for Division 3 (later League Two) outfit Boston towards the end of February 2004. Their manager Steve Evans said "Jermaine is lightning quick, has two good feet and is a good finisher." Jermaine made his debut for the Lincolnshire club in a 2-0 defeat at Torquay on 28.2.04 and had four more first team outings before being loaned to Southern League Eastern Division side King's Lynn in March 2004.

Immediately after joining King's Lynn Jermaine was granted compassionate leave after his father became ill and he never played for the club. He also didn't appear for Boston again and in July 2004 Jermaine signed for Conference South club Lewes.

Before the 2004/05 season proper began he parted company with Lewes and Jermaine then had a year out of football before joining Conference club Aldershot in August 2005.

After only two weeks with the Shots he signed for Margate and made his debut as a substitute in a Isthmian League Premier Division game at Staines on 23.8.05. Margate lost 2-1 but Jermaine got what the Isle of Thanet Gazette said was the "goal of the game", beating two defenders and dummying the Staines keeper before rolling the ball home. He made his first start in midfield in a 0-0 draw at Harrow on 27.8.05 and Jermaine then started six of the next seven matches.

The Thanet Times said he "did well" in midfield in a 0-0 draw with Redbridge at Hartsdown Park on 29.8.05 and on 10.9.05 Jermaine played as a right wing-back in an FA Cup tie against visitors Cowes. He got forward to score in a 4-0 win and the Thanet Times said he'd slotted into his new role "effortlessly". After a good run in the side Jermaine missed a 1-1 draw at Walton & Hersham on 1.10.05 before wearing the number two shirt in a 1-1 draw with Billericay at Hartsdown on 4.10.05. The Thanet Times said he was proving to be "a useful utility man" but he only played once more - in a 3-0 home defeat against Cray in an FA Cup tie on 8.10.05 - before being released having scored twice from 11 appearances (two as sub). Manager Chris Kinnear told the Thanet Times "Jermaine played in a couple of positions for us but has had one or two problems with work."

After leaving Margate he had a long spell out of football before resurfacing at Isthmian League Division 1 South outfit Dulwich at the start of the 2007/08 campaign. Jermaine left the club during the season and then had another lengthy spell away from the game.

In March 2011 he made a comeback aged 28 when he signed for Southern League Division 1 Central side Ashford (Middlesex) and Jermaine played for them until the end of the 2010/11 season.

In July 2011 he was signed by Conference South club Chelmsford and Jermaine made 13 appearances for the Clarets before being released in January 2012.

He played twice in the Isthmian League Division 1 for Thamesmead later in the 2011/12 campaign but then dropped out of senior football and during the first half of 2012/13 Jermaine turned out for Lambeth All Stars in the Morden & District League.

In January 2013 Jermaine rejoined Margate over seven years after his previous spell with the club and became new caretaker manager Craig Holloway's first signing. Jermaine was an unused substitute for five games before finally making his first appearance from the bench in a 2-1 win over Hampton & Richmond in an Isthmian League Premier Division match at Hartsdown Park on 23.2.13.

On 26.2.13 Jermaine started for the first time as Margate beat visitors Leiston 2-0 and the club's website said he "put in an accomplished performance" in midfield. Caretaker assistant manager Simon Osborn said "We brought Jermaine Brown in to play. First half he did exceptionally well. I thought he gave us a different option that we haven't had previously. He got a bit tired (in the second half) but that's to be expected because he hasn't had a lot of game time recently."

Jermaine played from the start in each of the next three matches and Margate's website said he was "assured and controlled in midfield" during a 0-0 draw with Hendon at Wembley FC on 2.3.13. The site then said Jermaine was "once again excellent at the heart of the midfield" in a 3-0 home win over Bognor Regis on 9.3.13 but on 16.3.13 he had to go off injured during the first half of a 3-0 win at Enfield Town and missed the next three games as a result.

Jermaine returned to action in a home game against Thurrock on 29.3.13 but picked up another injury and had to leave the field before half time. Margate went on to win 3-1. He only featured once as a substitute in the next four matches but on 13.4.13 Jermaine was back in the starting line-up as Margate lost 2-1 to Metropolitan Police at Hartsdown Park. He then started each of the last four games of the season to finish the campaign having made a total of 12 appearances (two as sub) without scoring. Jermaine left Margate at the end of the season.
