Midfielder born in Stepney, London who began his career as a junior at Leyton Orient in 1949 and signed professional forms for the O's in March 1950. During his time with Orient Jimmy had a loan spell with Kent League club Snowdown Colliery Welfare.

In August 1952 he was transferred to West Ham but didn't make the Hammers' first team and in June 1954 Jimmy moved onto Crystal Palace.

He went on to make over 130 first team appearances for the Eagles spanning the 1954/55 to 1957/58 seasons and was a member of the Palace team that won 3-2 at Margate in the FA Cup 1st Round on 16.11.57.

In May 1958 he moved to Ipswich and over the course of the next three seasons Jimmy made 29 first team appearances for the Suffolk club.

In July 1961 he linked up with Brentford and Jimmy played 36 first team games during 1961/62 before signing for Margate in the summer of 1962.

With his Football League pedigree Jimmy was felt to be a major capture for the club but things didn't work out for him at Hartsdown Park. He struggled for fitness initially and as a result Jimmy didn't make his first team debut until 7.11.62 when he wore the number ten shirt in 1-0 win at Romford in a Southern League Cup tie. He also featured in a 2-1 win at Ashford in a Kent Floodlight Cup tie on 28.11.62 but Jimmy didn't make any further senior appearances during 1962/63. He spent the rest of the campaign in the reserves and made a total of 29 appearances for them before being released at the end of the season.

Whilst with Margate Jimmy lived in Rainham, Essex and during the 2002/03 season he was a regular visitor to Selhurst Park for Crystal Palace matches.

In November 2013 Jimmy was still living in Rainham aged 81.
