6' 1" tall London-born attacker who started his career in Dagenham & Redbridge's youth academy before joining Isthmian League Premier Division club Hitchin in the summer of 2003.

Lawrence played in some of the Hertfordshire outfit's pre-season friendlies and then spent a few months in the reserves but he didn't make any senior appearances before leaving the club in November 2003.

After leaving Hitchin Lawrence signed for Isthmian League Division 2 side Clapton and he made three league appearances (one as sub) there.

By the start of 2004 Lawrence was back at Dagenham & Redbridge and he played for the Daggers' reserves for the remainder of the 2003/04 season.

Lawrence moved on to Tooting & Mitcham for the 2004/05 campaign and spent the whole season in the Isthmian League Division 1 club's reserves, never making a first team appearance.

In the summer of 2005 he joined Carshalton and Lawrence played in their first Conference South game of 2005/06 - a 4-1 defeat at Newport County - before being released.

After leaving Carshalton Lawrence registered with a website called 'Football Careers Centre' who put together a side of unattached players that played a friendly against Grays Reserves. Lawrence scored in a 4-1 defeat and was then invited to train with Grays with a view to signing for the club but they didn't take him on.

In October 2005 Lawrence briefly returned to Tooting & Mitcham and played once for their reserves before signing for Margate at the start of November 2005.

He made his debut as a substitute in a 3-2 defeat against Bromley in an Isthmian League Cup tie at Hartsdown Park on 8.11.05 and Lawrence also came on in a 1-0 home defeat against Dartford in the FA Trophy on 12.11.05. The Thanet Times said his introduction at half-time "gave 10-man Gate a different dimension in the second half" and the paper added "he just had that spark about him which looked like it could change a game".

On 19.11.05 Lawrence made his third consecutive substitute appearance as Margate lost 1-0 at Windsor & Eton in an Isthmian League Premier Division game and he was sent off ten minutes from time for head-butting an opponent. The Thanet Times said the referee had "no option" other than to show Lawrence a red card and he became the first ever Margate player to be dismissed before starting a match for the club.

Three days later - on 22.11.05 - Lawrence came on as a sub after 70 minutes of a game against Bromley at Hartsdown Park and remarkably with a minute left to play he was sent off for the second game in a row for what the referee deemed a dangerous challenge. The Isle of Thanet Gazette said his dismissal "looked harsh" as Lawrence jumped in to win ball with what the paper said was "genuine enthusiasm" and the Gazette said he "looked stunned" when he was shown the red card. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and Margate manager Chris Kinnear said "Lawrence is bewildered by his red card. He took the ball and then slid through, but it was a greasy pitch. He's only 20, has never been sent off before and now he's had two red cards on the trot. I imagine he'll be banned for six or seven games. There was no excuse for Saturday when he deserved to go, but I've spoken to him about that. He's a pleasant lad, he tries hard and wants to do well for Margate." Lawrence made one more sub appearance - in a 3-2 home win over Hampton & Richmond on 26.11.05 - before serving a seven match ban.

He finally returned to action on 21.1.06 when he made his first start in a wide midfield role as Margate drew 2-2 with Slough at Windsor & Eton and Lawrence then became a regular in the side for the next three months, usually playing in midfield. On 4.2.06 he scored for the first time in a 2-1 win over East Thurrock at Hartsdown Park and Lawrence then got both goals in Margate's next match - a 2-1 home win over Folkestone in the Kent Senior Cup on 7.2.06. His first effort was a header from a corner and Lawrence's second strike saw him charge forward from the halfway line before shooting across the Folkestone keeper and into the net. The Isle of Thanet Gazette said he was "impressive".

On 25.2.06 Lawrence got his fourth goal in a 4-0 win over Wealdstone at Northwood but he missed a 1-0 home defeat against AFC Wimbledon on 7.3.06 after getting stuck in traffic en route to the game. On 8.3.06 Margate's official website announced that Lawrence would be joining Chelmsford as a non-contract player having turned down a contract offer to stay on at Hartsdown Park but the next day the site reported that he'd changed his mind. He signed a contract with Margate that would run until the end of the 2006/07 season and Chris Kinnear told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "We spoke to Lawrence, told him how much we wanted him to stay and that all the supporters were behind him. Margate is a club going forward and Lawrence realises this is the best place to be if he wants to progress."

On 1.4.06 Lawrence was booked for another head-butt in a 2-1 home defeat against Heybridge and Chris Kinnear told the Thanet Times "It was stupid, I don't know why he did it and I don't think he does either. He lost it, there was no logic to it - I thought he was going off." The Isle of Thanet Gazette said Lawrence was "outstanding" in a 1-1 home draw with Windsor & Eton three days later and that match was Chris Kinnear's last in charge. On 17.4.06 Lawrence made his 16th start from a possible 17 games as Margate drew 1-1 at Folkestone but he then found himself on the subs bench for the last two matches of the season. He came on in both of them to finish the campaign with a record of four goals from 23 outings (seven as sub).

In May 2006 Lawrence asked to be transfer-listed but in June the Thanet Times reported that there'd only been one tentative enquiry for him and at the start of July the paper reported that Lawrence might still be part of new player-manager Robin Trott's plans. Trott said "Lawrence has shown a great attitude, I'm well pleased with him. The last thing you want from players on the list is hassle but he's got his head down and is working hard. I'll give anyone a chance if they show they are playing well."

Later in July 2006 Lawrence played in two friendlies for Sutton but shortly before the start of the 2006/07 campaign proper he returned to Hartsdown Park and took part in one of Margate's pre-season games.

By the end of August 2006 there had still been no firm offers for Lawrence and he hadn't featured in Margate's team either. Robin Trott told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "He's trying his best but he needs a bit of a break. He was on trial at Sutton and they liked him for one game, I think. The problem is, he needs a lot of coaching. If someone could grab hold of him and teach him he might be all right, but to be honest I haven't got the time to do it. If I was full-time I could take him aside and do some one-on-ones with him."

After being on the bench a few times Lawrence finally made his first appearance of the season when he wore the number ten shirt in an FA Cup tie at Whitstable on 30.9.06. With Margate a goal behind in the second half he headed an equaliser from a Louis Smith cross and set the team on course for a 2-1 win. Robin Trott told the Thanet Times "I'm glad to see Lawrence score a goal. He's got a good attitude. We had a bit of a thing last Saturday because he was frustrated at not getting games, but he got his chance and took it. He's scored a goal and done OK. I've got a soft spot for Lawrence but people can't get too excited." Lawrence kept his place for Margate's next game - a 1-0 defeat at Heybridge on 7.10.06 - but that turned out to be his final senior appearance.

On 28.10.06 he scored twice for the reserves in a game against Tilbury and in November 2006 Lawrence was loaned to Isthmian League Division 1 North club Aveley for a month.

He made seven league appearances (two as sub) for the Millers without scoring but Lawrence did find the net in a 3-1 home win over Barking in the Essex Senior Cup on 4.12.06, shortly before returning to Margate.

Later in December 2006 he joined Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Walton & Hersham on loan and in January 2007 Lawrence's move became permanent after he was released from his Margate contract. On 31.3.07 he played in a 3-0 defeat at Margate and Lawrence finished 2006/07 having scored twice from 18 league appearances (four as sub) for the Swans as they were relegated.

In July 2007 he played in a friendly for Doncaster, coming on as a sub in a 1-1 draw with Hull and playing at centre-back, and their manager Sean O'Driscoll said "He was recommended to us, but he came with a shoulder problem. There is something there but it might take 18 months to develop."

Lawrence ended up starting the 2007/08 campaign back at Walton & Hersham and their manager Les Cleevely said "Yiga came back to us just before the season started but dislocated his shoulder. He may need surgery in the long term but, in the meantime, he can play a big part for us." Despite Cleevely's initial enthusiasm Lawrence was released at the start of October 2007 after making just one substitute appearance for the Swans.

He soon joined Potters Bar of the Isthmian League Division 1 North and Lawrence made six league appearances there (one as sub) without scoring before leaving the club towards the end of 2007 and dropping out of senior football for a while.

Later in the 2007/08 season he made a one-off appearance for a Sunday League side called Panthea who hailed from the Potters Bar area and played in The Cypriot League.

On 12.7.08 Lawrence played for Torquay in a friendly at Tiverton and missed a penalty in a 1-0 defeat. He then featured in some of Tiverton's friendlies before signing for Conference South club Fisher in August 2008.

Early in the 2008/09 campaign Lawrence suffered a fractured eye socket in a game at Eastleigh and he left the Fish before the end of 2008.

After leaving Fisher Lawrence concentrated on his fashion clothing company for a few months and his business partner was former Redbridge, Concord Rangers and Dulwich Hamlet winger Andre Humphrey-Modeste.

In the summer of 2009 Lawrence joined Billericay of the Isthmian League Premier Division but he found his first team opportunities limited during the opening weeks of the 2009/10 season and at the end of September 2009 he was released.

On 3.10.09 Lawrence made a one-off appearance for Middlesex County Football League outfit Interwood, scoring in a 4-0 home win over Southall, but he then went back to Billericay a few days later.

Lawrence was sent off for a bad tackle as Ricay drew 1-1 at Bognor on 25.10.09 and scored once from a total of six league appearances (two as sub) before leaving the club once more in November 2009.

In December 2009 Lawrence joined United Counties Premier League outfit St.Neots but in January 2010 he left the club.

He spent the remainder of the 2009/10 campaign back at Interwood and Lawrence was prolific for them in the Middlesex County Football League. He scored 29 goals before the end of the season and his tally included a hat-trick in a 5-2 home win over Sloane on 13.2.10 and two four-goal hauls - in a 5-1 win over FC Deportivo Galicia on 27.3.10 and a 9-2 thrashing of Copland on 15.5.10.

In the summer of 2010 Lawrence signed for Thurrock of the Conference South but before the end of August 2010 he moved on to Waltham Forest.

Lawrence scored three goals from six Isthmian League Division 1 North outings (one as sub) for Forest before linking up with Maldon & Tiptree, also of Division 1 North, in October 2010.

He joined former Margate players Dean Standen, Jack Haverson and Grant Cooper at Maldon & Tiptree and Lawrence scored once from ten league appearances (two as sub) over the next few months.

In January 2011 he moved on to Aveley but Lawrence only made three Isthmian League Premier Division appearances (two as sub) without scoring during his second spell with the club and in February 2011 he rejoined Interwood.

Lawrence got two goals in a 5-0 home win over Southall on 12.2.11 and by the end of the 2010/11 season he'd scored seven times for Interwood.

In the summer of 2011 he had a trial with Conference South club Welling and on 16.7.11 Lawrence came on as a substitute as they lost 2-0 to Margate in a friendly at Hartsdown Park. Three days later he played in a friendly for Thamesmead as they went down 2-1 at home to Maidstone but he wasn't signed by the club.

After a few months out of football Lawrence went back to Interwood early in 2012 and he scored seven goals for them before the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

In the summer of 2012 Lawrence featured in friendlies for Conference South club Eastbourne Borough and on 24.7.12 he scored for them in a 4-0 win at Horsham.

After failing to earn a deal at Eastbourne Lawrence rejoined Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Thurrock at the start of September 2012 and made his debut in a 3-0 win at Basildon in the FA Cup on 8.9.12. He only played once more before departing.

In March 2013 Lawrence signed for Isthmian League Division 1 North outfit Witham and made his debut for them as a substitute in a 3-2 home win over Maldon & Tiptree on 30.3.13. He went on to make five more sub appearances before the end of the 2012/13 season.

Lawrence then returned to Interwood for 2013/14 and generally played as a centre-back for them.
