Pacy wide player born in Sutton, Surrey who progressed through Margate's youth ranks and made his first reserve team appearances during the 2006/07 campaign.

In the summer of 2007 Paul featured in most of Margate's first team friendlies and scored in a 3-2 defeat at Bromley on 17.7.07. At the start of August 2007 he was given a contract and player-manager Robin Trott told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "Paul Axon's given me 100 per cent commitment in pre-season and I had no hesitation giving him a contract. He's young and willing to learn, he's got legs and hunger and he's really advanced pre-season. He's been unbelievable."

On the eve of the start of the 2007/08 campaign Trott again spoke to the Gazette about Paul and described him as "...an under-estimated player who has a lot of legs." Trott added "He's contracted now and it will do him good to be in the squad and around better players."

Paul made his debut as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Horsham in an Isthmian League Premier Division game at Hartsdown Park on 27.8.07 but he didn't feature in Margate's next three matches. He returned to action on 15.9.07 and made his first start wearing the number four shirt in a 3-0 win at Chatham in the FA Cup. Paul then made one sub appearance in the next three games before playing from the start as Margate lost 3-2 at home to East Thurrock in the Isthmian League Cup on 2.10.07.

After sitting out four matches Paul came on as a sub as Margate drew 0-0 with Aylesbury in an FA Trophy tie played at Chesham United on 21.10.07 but he was injured after only a few minutes and had to be replaced himself. At the end of October 2007 Paul was a passenger in a car driven by team-mate Kieran Morris that crashed into a ditch and Robin Trott told the Thanet Times "It's not a nice thing to happen - it shook them all up."

On 24.11.07 Paul made his first appearance for over a month when he came on as a substitute in a 1-0 win at Billericay and he had one further sub outing before starting a Kent Senior Cup tie against Welling at Hartsdown Park on 11.12.07. He had to go off with an ankle injury after 20 minutes and Margate ended up winning 2-1. Paul made two more sub appearances in the next six games but after coming on in a 2-1 home win over Chatham in the Kent Senior Cup on 22.1.08 he didn't feature again in the first team before the end of the 2007/08 campaign and finished the season having played 11 times (seven as sub) without scoring.

Paul was a regular in Margate's friendlies ahead of the 2008/09 campaign and on 13.9.08 he made his first appearance of the new season when he came on as a substitute 20 minutes from the end of a 5-1 defeat at Worthing in the FA Cup. Manager Barry Ashby told the Thanet Times "Paul Axon did well when he came on" and he made his next sub appearance in a 3-2 home defeat against Hastings in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 4.10.08. Paul then featured four times as a sub in Margate's next five games but after a 2-0 defeat against Maidstone at Hartsdown Park on 28.10.08 he fell out of favour.

Paul's next outing from the bench came in a 3-2 defeat at Dartford in the Isthmian League Cup on 2.12.08 but that turned out to be his final senior appearance of the season. He'd played six times as a substitute in all.

In the summer of 2009 Paul featured as a substitute in some of Margate's friendlies and on 28.7.09 he made his first competitive appearance of the 2009/10 campaign when he came on during a 1-0 win over Ramsgate at Hartsdown Park in the 1st Leg of a tie played for the Isle of Thanet Gazette Cup. He also featured as a sub in the 2nd Leg at Ramsgate on 1.8.09 - a 1-1 draw.

After his two early senior outings Paul spent the next couple of months in the reserves and in October 2009 he joined Whitstable.

He played twice (once as sub) for the Oystermen in the Isthmian League Division 1 South before returning to Margate in March 2010.

On 30.3.10 Paul played in a 2-0 defeat at Welling in the Kent Senior Cup and it turned out to be his last first team appearance. He left Margate at the end of the season having only had three senior outings (two as sub) during 2009/10.

Paul signed for Ramsgate ahead of 2010/11 and he went on to score eight goals from 34 Division 1 South appearances (seven as sub) before an ankle injury ended his season in March 2011.

In the summer of 2011 he left Southwood following a disagreement with Ramsgate manager Jimmy Ward and Paul then went to Spain for a few months.

Towards the end of November 2011 he rejoined the Rams and Jimmy Ward told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "He phoned me and apologised and asked if he could come back and I said he could give it a go. He has to keep his nose clean and he knows that but I'm not an ogre - I'm a big softie really."

In the months that followed Paul only played twice as a substitute in Division 1 South and by April 2012 he was back in Spain, living in Marbella.
