Aggressive midfielder born in London to Nigerian parents who started his career with Croydon. Paul made his first team debut at the start of 1981 aged 16 and he also turned out for Kerria Sports of the Morden & District Sunday League at that time. He spent eight seasons with Croydon and was the club's 'Player of the Year' for the 1985/86 campaign.

In the summer of 1988 Paul signed for Dulwich and during 1988/89 he played for the Isthmian League's representative side. He scored three goals in 89 appearances for Dulwich before moving on to Wealdstone in November 1989.

Paul played over 50 games for Wealdstone before joining Kingstonian in November 1990 for a five figure fee.

He spent just over two years with the K's and scored twice in a total of around 50 appearances before leaving the club during the 1992/93 season.

In October 1993 Paul rejoined Dulwich and then had spells with Boreham Wood (where he scored on his debut), Bromley (where he made six appearances) and Walton & Hersham (from January 1994) before the end of the 1993/94 campaign.

Paul linked up with Bognor Regis for the start of 1994/95 and then switched to Worthing in the summer of 1995.

Towards the end of 1995/96 he signed for Tooting & Mitcham where he made ten appearances before the season finished.

Paul started the 1996/97 campaign with Erith & Belvedere and made four appearances for the Deres before joining Margate in November 1996.

He made what the Thanet Times said was "an encouraging debut" in a 2-0 win over Buckingham at Hartsdown Park on 16.11.96 but the paper also noted that Paul was booked for a "clattering foul". He then wore the number eight shirt in Margate's next three matches before missing a Southern League Cup tie at St.Leonards Stamcroft on 11.12.96 after getting held up in traffic on the way to the game. Paul returned to the midfield for Margate's next six matches but after playing in a 2-1 win at Buckingham on 25.1.97 he left the club and signed for Weymouth. He'd made ten appearances for Margate.

Paul's departure came about after he'd asked for a contract and a wage increase and it was reported that he'd originally offered his services to Weymouth after Margate's game there on 11.1.97 and had also contacted Chelmsford about joining them whilst still on Margate's books.

Paul played for Weymouth in their 2-1 win at Margate on 8.2.97 but only spent a few weeks with the Terras before signing for Bashley in March 1997.

He retired from senior football in the summer of 1997.

During the early part of his career Paul worked as a diamond sorter and he later had a spell as a Police Community Support Officer in the Rotherhithe area of London. Paul withdrew from those duties in 2006.

He was living in Peckham during 2010.

Paul's younger brother Steve played for various Isthmian League clubs including Dulwich and Metropolitan Police during the 1980's and 90's.
