Bromley-born defender who began his career at Charlton and worked his way through the club's youth ranks. Roger was signed as an associated schoolboy on 4.2.87 and then became a trainee on 4.7.88. He played for Charlton's Colts side from 1987/88 to 1989/90 and also played for the reserves during 1988/89 and 1989/90.

Roger left Charlton early in 1990 and signed for Margate in February of that year aged 18, making his debut at centre-back in a 5-0 defeat at Baldock on 24.2.90. The Thanet Times reported that Roger "created a favourable impression" despite the result. He played in Margate's next three games too, twice as a centre-back and once at left-back. According to the Thanet Times he "impressed" in the number three shirt in a 0-0 draw at Dunstable on 10.3.90. Shortly after playing in Joe Radford's testimonial match against a Charlton X1 on 14.3.90 Roger was released as he had a chance to play in Finland. He'd made four appearances without scoring before his departure.

Roger spent around three months in Finland with a club he identified as FC Vaasa and in 2008 he said "My interest in the game was dwindling by then." The team Roger played for can't have been called FC Vaasa as no such club exists and its actual identity isn't known.

After returning from Finland Roger joined Dulwich in the summer of 1990 and he then moved on to Croydon before retiring from senior football at the end of the 1990/91 season.

Roger played Sunday football until he was 32 and in 2008 he was co-owner of a business offering marketing advice and solutions to technology firms. Roger was living in Lewes, East Sussex at that time and had his own website at http://rogerwarner.net/.
