Towering skilful attacker born in Barnet who moved to the Thanet area as a youngster and attended Hereson School in Ramsgate before leaving in 1956.

Ron started his senior football career with Kent League outfit Herne Bay and he was on their books during the 1958/59 campaign. He also played twice as a trialist for Chelsea's youth team that season.

Ron started 1959/60 with Snowdown in the Kent League before returning to Thanet to play for Ramsgate's reserves.

He then had a spell in local amateur football and Ron was turning out for Margate Athletic when he was signed by Margate during the 1961/62 campaign aged 20.

He made 13 appearances for Margate's reserves during the season, scoring once, and Ron also made a one-off appearance for the first team when he wore the number eight shirt in a 2-0 win over Gravesend & Northfleet in a Kent Senior Cup tie at Hartsdown Park on 14.2.62 before departing.

Ron later had another spell with Ramsgate and he was a regular in their reserves during the 1963/64 campaign.

Ron continued to play locally for several more seasons and of the clubs he played for was Northwood.

In 2013 he was living in Ramsgate.
