Thanet-born player who started out in Margate's youth ranks and played for the club's Under-14's side during the 2008/09 campaign.

In August 2009 Ryan had a trial with West Ham and set up a goal in an outing for their Academy side but the Hammers couldn't find a place for him in their youth set-up so recommended Ryan to Tottenham instead. The Thanet Times ran a story about him that was headlined "Young Ryan Looking To Win His Spurs" and Margate Under-15's manager Kevin Powell told the paper "Ryan looked completely comfortable, even at the highest level. He will be paid to play somewhere in his career. This experience can only be beneficial to Ryan in the future."

He ended up playing for Margate's Under-15's side throughout the 2009/10 season and Ryan then switched to Ramsgate in the summer of 2010.

During the 2010/11 campaign he played for the Rams' Under-16's and Ryan then featured in the Under-18's during 2011/12.

He rejoined Margate for the 2012/13 season and played regularly for the reserves. Ryan also made a one-off appearance for the first team when he came on as a late substitute in a 4-0 home defeat against Metropolitan Police in the Isthmian League Cup on 16.10.12.

In the summer of 2013 he signed for Deal of the Southern Counties East League but in October 2013 Ryan returned to Margate.
