5' 8" tall attacking midfielder born in the village of Canewdon, Essex who played for Southend-based junior side Rayleigh Boys as a youth. Their manager John Watson later recalled "Scott was the joker of the pack. He was very disorganised and would often turn up without his full kit and beg to borrow a boot, a sock or a pair of shorts. He was very dedicated though. There's one story after he'd just moved to the country when his dad spotted him playing in a field. His father thought his son was by himself...but he was actually practising by rebounding the ball off a very startled cow !".

Scott began his senior career with Isthmian League Premier Division club Bishop's Stortford during the 1996/97 season and spent around two years there before dropping down a division to join Braintree in November 1998.

After making over 50 appearances for Braintree Scott signed for Essex Senior League outfit Saffron Walden at the start of 2000 and he was immediately given a contract. Soon after joining the club he scored a hat-trick in an 8-0 demolition of Hullbridge and Scott also played in some reserve team games for both Queens Park Rangers and Southend before the end of the 1999/00 campaign.

In the summer of 2000 he featured in some friendlies for Canvey Island but shortly before the start of the 2000/01 season Scott was signed by Division 3 (later League Two) club Southend aged 23.

He made his debut for the Shrimpers as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Brighton at Roots Hall on 12.8.00 and Scott quickly became a very popular player with the Southend supporters. He scored his first goal for the club in a 3-1 home win over Macclesfield on 4.11.00 and by the end of the season Scott had played 43 first team games, scoring four goals.

During the 2001/02 campaign he was severely hampered by injuries and Scott only featured in 15 senior matches, making his last appearance as a substitute in a 2-2 draw with Oxford United at Roots Hall on 2.3.02. At the end of the season he was released.

Scott played in some friendlies for Stevenage early in July 2002 but towards the end of the month he signed a two-year contract with Isthmian League Premier Division side Canvey Island.

Scott again struggled with injuries during 2002/03 and in February 2003 he was loaned to his old club Bishop's Stortford where he scored once in seven appearances before returning to Canvey in March 2003. By the end of the 2002/03 season Scott had scored twice from 22 league appearances (three as sub) for Canvey as they finished as runners-up.

He was still on Canvey's books at the start of the 2003/04 campaign but Scott couldn't break into their side and a couple of months into the season he was loaned to Heybridge where he made four Isthmian League Premier Division appearances and scored once.

By January 2004 Scott still hadn't featured for Canvey during 2003/04 and he was loaned to Bishop's Stortford once again - his third spell at the club. He was sent off in his first game - a 4-0 win at Maidenhead on 17.1.04 - and ended up staying on until the end of the season, making 12 Isthmian League Premier Division appearances (three as sub) without scoring.

Scott rejoined Bishop's Stortford on a permanent basis ahead of the 2004/05 campaign but in September 2004 they loaned him to Windsor & Eton. Scott had three outings there in the Isthmian League Premier Division appearances and then briefly returned to Stortford.

In October 2004 he moved on to Heybridge, his second spell there, and Scott scored four goals from 21 outings (two as sub) in the Isthmian League Premier Division up to the end of the 2004/05 campaign.

In the summer of 2005 he went back to Bishop's Stortford yet again and before Scott's fifth spell there began he'd made 125 appearances for the club.

In January 2006 he signed for Margate and Scott made his debut as a substitute in a 2-2 draw with Slough at Windsor & Eton in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 21.1.06. It turned out to be his only appearance and Scott left the club a few days later.

On 31.1.06 he scored for Billericay in a friendly against Dagenham & Redbridge and Ricay then signed him for the remainder of the 2005/06 campaign. Scott made his competitive debut in a 2-1 home defeat against Heybridge in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 4.2.06 and went on to make a total of seven appearances (five as sub) without scoring before the end of the season.

He spent the 2006/07 campaign playing for Dunmow in the Mid Essex League and Stambridge in the Essex Olympian League as a dual-registered player and Scott was Dunmow's leading goalscorer for the season.

He then joined Essex Senior League club Takeley towards the end of 2007/08 and Scott also spent the whole of the 2008/09 season with them.

During 2011/12 he was player-coach at Essex Senior League outfit Stansted and on 6.8.11 Scott scored a hat-trick for them in a 3-1 win at Barking. He was then sent off after 30 minutes of a 4-1 defeat at Canvey Island in the FA Cup on 17.9.11.

Scott was a UEFA 'B' qualified coach and in the mid 2000's he was running his own Soccer School. His date of birth was sometimes listed as being 3rd December 1976.
