5' 11" tall left-sided midfielder who started his career with his hometown club Dover. Steve first played for the club's reserves during the 2006/07 campaign and during 2007/08 he progressed to the first team squad.

On 1.10.07 Steve scored on his senior debut after coming on as a second half substitute in an Isthmian League Cup tie against Eastbourne Town at Crabble but he couldn't prevent Dover from losing 3-2. By the end of the season Steve had made a total of five first team appearances (three as sub) without scoring again.

During the early part of the 2008/09 campaign he was loaned to Kent League club Faversham and Steve's move soon became permanent. On 27.12.08 he bagged a hat-trick in a 5-1 home win over Herne Bay and Steve ended up scoring nine goals for Faversham before the end of the season. He then featured regularly again as the club won the Kent League during 2009/10 but Steve only played once as a substitute for Faversham at the start of their first Isthmian League Division 1 South campaign before joining Deal in September 2010.

Steve was a regular in Deal's Kent League side up until the end of March 2011 when he signed for Margate.

He made his debut as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat at Hastings in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 9.4.11 and Steve thus became the 999th post-World War II player used by Margate in competitive matches. He made his first start on the left wing in a 1-1 draw at Aveley on 16.4.11 and Steve then wore the number four shirt in each of Margate's last three games. His final outing came in a 3-3 draw with Kingstonian at Hartsdown Park on 30.4.11 and that took his record to five appearances (one as sub) without scoring.

In the summer of 2011 Steve featured in several of Margate's friendlies but he then joined Kent League newcomers Canterbury at the start of August 2011.

On 6.8.11 he scored a hat-trick in the space of 11 first half minutes as Canterbury beat Lydd 7-1 in their final pre-season match but after featuring in City's first three Kent League games and scoring with a direct free-kick in a 4-1 defeat at Woodstock Sports on 17.8.11 Steve signed for Ramsgate.

Commenting on Steve's time with Canterbury the Rams' manager Jimmy Ward told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "He's too good for that level." and Steve made his debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw at Sittingbourne in Division 1 South on 23.8.11. He went on to score twice from 32 league outings (four as sub) during the remainder of the 2011/12 campaign and Steve also scored two goals in a 4-0 win over Cray at Bromley in an Isthmian League Cup tie.

He stayed with the Rams for 2012/13 and Steve made 29 appearances (ten as sub) in all competitions without scoring during the season. However in July 2013 he suffered a bad knee injury whilst playing for the Rams in a friendly against Canterbury.

His older brother Paul played 99 times for Margate between 1998/99 and 2000/01.
