Local player who started his senior career with Herne Bay during the 1980/81 season before moving on to Ramsgate for the 1981/82 campaign.

Wayne also played amateur football for Southwood United during 1981/82 and won the Thanet and District League's 'Player of the Year' award for the season.

He returned to Herne Bay for the 1982/83 campaign and went back to Ramsgate once more for the 1983/84 term.

In the summer of 1984 Wayne joined Thanet and became a regular in United's reserve side during the 1984/85 season. He also made a one-off appearance for the first team, coming on as a substitute during a 2-1 defeat at Hastings in an Eastern Floodlight Cup tie on 7.3.85.

Wayne left the club at the end of the season and dropped back into local amateur football where he played for clubs including Anglian.

Wayne later became a referee and was officiating in Thanet Sunday Football League games during the 2005/06 season.
