Player Profile:
Ryan played for Weymouth Tigers as a junior and scored 80 goals in a season which caused him to be spotted by AFC Bournemouth.
He then yo-yoed between Dorchester and Bashley from 2005 to 2011, scoring prolifically for both clubs. He joined AFC Totton in February 2012, scoring a hat-trick on his debut, and was signed by Havant in July that year. However, he was released at the end of December. He joined Hampton & Richmond and then Kingstonian in summer 2013.
Ryan joined Margate for 2014-15. After not scoring in the three league matches of the season, Ryan had a purple patch of seven goals in the next three games, including a hat-trick in a 5-1 win at Lewes on 25.8.14. He then only scored once in the next seven games.
However, his next goal after that – on 23.9.14 – was crucial as it sealed a 1-0 win at home to Isthmian Premier promotion rivals Maidstone United at Hartsdown in front of 2,306.
Ryan’s goalscoring remained sporadic for most of the rest of the season, though he did score twice in a 4-4 draw at home to Hendon on 14.4.15.
He also scored in both of Margate’s play-off matches at the end of the season, the 2-1 semi-final win at home to Dulwich on 14.5.15 and he notched the winner as we beat Hendon 1-0 in the final at Harrow Borough on 18.5.15.
He finished the campaign with 26 goals in all competitions from 50 appearances, plus five as sub. Ryan stayed at Margate, now in the National League South, in 2015-16 but found his opportunities limited.
After three goals in 15 appearances, mostly as a sub, he signed for Dulwich Hamlet in November 2015 - a transfer partially funded by supporters of the South London club. Ironically, a couple of weeks later he was in the Dulwich team that beat Margate 2-1 in an FA Trophy tie at Champion Hill on 28.11.15.
Ryan finished 2015-16 at Dulwich but then rejoined Kingstonian where he scored 25 goals in 2016-17. He started 2017-18 at Hampton & Richmond before joining Harrow Borough in November 2017. He went on to score 44 goals from more than 100 appearances for them.
In October 2019, he signed for Isthmian Premier side Cheshunt. In his time at Cheshunt, Ryan was asked to select his dream five-a-side team and chose Nikki Bull as his keeper.
Ryan is a supporter of Cardiff City.
