Player Profile:

Right-back born in south-west London who started his career as a winger. Chris had come through Sutton United's youth set-up. He had trials at Norwich, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa and loan spells at Tooting and Kingstonian before joining Conference South Dover Athletic in 2012.

He left Crabble at the end of 2012-13 and joined Ebbsfleet who loaned him to Sutton United for a month from December 2014. Chris was then released by Ebbsfleet and spent the remainder of 2014-15 with Eastbourne Borough.

Chris spent 2015-16 with Whitehawk and was part of the team which reached the National League South play-offs, losing to Ebbsfleet.

Chris had a trial spell with Portsmouth in the summer of 2016. He played for Pompey in a pre-season tour of Ireland.

He remained a non-league player though and joined Margate in September. His debut was in a 2-1 win at home to East Thurrock in National League South on 6.9.16. He became a popular figure in the team in what was a traumatic campaign and, at the end of it, was voted supporters' player of the season.

Chris remained at Hartsdown for 2017-18 but ended up missing most of the season - from early November onwards - due to a knee injury. This was the season in which he scored his only goal for Margate in a 3-0 win at Staines in the FA Trophy on 28.10.17.

Early in 2018, it was revealed he had a cartilage tear that required surgery. Manager Steve Watt said: "We've been without Sess for a good few months now. We thought we had reached a more positive conclusion earlier on in the season but unfortunately he will require surgery and won't feature for us again this campaign.

"Sess is a huge loss for us. He's a great personality to have in and around the dressing room and when we were starting the season, looking at our back five line-up including Pidge, we looked very strong."

He then missed the whole of the 2018-19 campaign. However, he featured in Margate's pre-season programme for 2019-20 and was offered a deal by manager Jay Saunders.

Chris told the club website: "Jay and Mike [Sandmann] invited me along to help with fitness and then after a few games in pre-season we started thinking about the season ahead. When Jay offered me something, it was an obvious choice for me to come back here and try to be successful."

Of his time injured, he said: "It is tough when you are injured and you don't have a team. You miss everything that goes with it, the training, the dressing room banter and, of course, playing games every week.

"Luckily for me, I had some great support around me and I managed to get fit and then the opportunity to get fitter come about and then it's just gone from there."

Chris made his first League appearance for the club in almost two years in the opening game of the campaign, a 0-0 draw at home to Brightlingsea Regent on 10.8.19. He was a regular face in the team before the season was abandoned due to Covid.

Ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, it was announced an agreement couldn't be reached for Chris to stay at the club. However, he ended up making six appearances, plus one as sub, before the season was again halted due to Covid.

Chris started 2021-22 at Margate but left in September to join Carshalton Athletic. After a handful of games for the Robins, he moved to Horsham in November. He played against Margate in the Isthmian League Cup final that Horsham won 4-0 at Aveley on 13.4.22.

Chris remained at Horsham in 2022-23 but in December 2023 joined Folkestone Invicta.

Chris is the brother of professional footballers Ryan and Steve Sessegnon.
