Player Profile:
Nigerian-born keeper Dan joined West Ham's academy in January 2018 as an under-16 after a spell training with Chelsea.
He told West Ham's website: "My family and everyone have made so many sacrifices to allow me to get to the position I’m in now, so it made me feel so good to make them proud in this way."
While at West Ham, he was chosen for the Nigeria U17 squad for the 2019 World Cup.
Following a successful trial, he signed a 12-month deal with Barnsley in the summer of 2021.
In October 2022, Dan signed for Margate on dual registration from National League South side Dartford.
On signing Dan, manager Andy Drury told the club website: "Dan is an exciting young keeper that can have a big future in the game and we hope to be able to play a part in developing that further."
Dan made his debut in an FA Trophy 2-0 loss at Billericay Town on 8.10.22. He made a sensational reaction save at the very end of Margate's 1-0 win at Potters Bar on 7.3.23 that secured three points.
He spoke to the club website before the Kent Senior Cup Final against Chatham on 3.5.23. "As a goalkeeper it's a special position where I don’t feel like anyone can just go in goal, it's something that you have to either be cool or crazy to do. Being that last line of defence, we are misunderstood and hated, we're blamed for most things, we have no back-up, so it can be a lonely position sometimes. There is obviously pressure but in my personal opinion I love it and I get satisfaction from dealing with that pressure and making that big stop in crucial moments."
Dan saved a penalty from Chatham's Danny Kedwell in the shoot-out that helped Margate take the cup.
At the end of the season, Dan signed for National League side Maidenhead United. In January 2024, he went on a two-month loan to Dover Athletic. He saved a penalty on his debut in a 1-1 draw at Taunton on 13.1.24. Dan returned to Maidenhead at the end of the loan period.
