Player Profile:
Nomadic striker born in Edmonton, North London, who made several hundred appearances for professional clubs. Dean started his career with Colchester United, signing professional forms in 2001. Dean played more than 70 times for Colchester but his contract was terminated by mutual agreement in 2003. He joined Reading but was released at the end of the 2004-05 season.
Luton Town of the Championship was his next club, joining in the summer of the 2005. Dean started well with a fine goal on his home debut in a 3-2 win against Southampton on 9.8.2005. However, inconsistent performances saw him loaned out to Southend for the 2007-08 season, before further loans to Crewe Alexandra and Leyton Orient.
After more than 100 games for Luton, Dean left the Hatters at the end of the 2008-09 season. He started the 2009-10 campaign at Conference club Grays Athletic but soon left and joined MK Dons who loaned him to Aldershot Town.
He started 2010-11 at Chesterfield and scored three goals from 24 appearances as the Spireites won the League Two title. He finished his second season with the club on loan at Oxford United. Dean then joined Wycombe for the 2012-13 season. His form at Wycombe saw him called up to the Montserrat national team.
After being released by the Chairboys in May 2014, Dean had short spells at Woking, Crawley Town, U.S Ancona 1905 in Italy, Newport County and Icelandic club Throttur.
He then returned to England with Welling United and Bishop’s Stortford (for whom he had played at Hartsdown on 7.1.17 in a 3-0 win for the away side) before joining Margate as a free agent in January 2017. Dean had played with Margate manager Nikki Bull at Wycombe. Bull told Kent Online: "Dean's someone who comes with a bit of baggage. He's had loads of clubs and hasn't necessarily always played to his potential but with him it's about stimulating his mind. There's never been any question about his ability."
He made his debut in a 2-0 defeat at Bath City in the National League South on 28.1.17 and had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half.
Dean had the chance to end Margate’s run of 15 hours without a goal from the penalty spot in the 11th minute of a home game against Gosport Borough on 11.3.17. He missed the kick but luckily two late goals from Ira Jackson sealed a 2-0 win.
Dean finished the season having made 14 appearances for Margate (including two as sub) without scoring.
He had a brief spell with Beaconsfield Town. Dean then moved into coaching, although he continued to play for St Panteleimon in the Spartan South Midlands League and Uxbridge in the Isthmian League.
