Player Profile:

Towering 6’ 4” central defender who signed a professional contract with Millwall in 2012, turning down an offer from Premier League side Newcastle United. Jake had loan spells at Staines Town of the Isthmian League and Conference sides Luton Town and Aldershot Town.

He then went on loan to League Two side AFC Wimbledon in November 2014 and stayed there until the end of the 2014-15 season.

Jake was released by Millwall in 2015 without making a first-team appearance and joined Margate at the start of 2015-16. On his signing, manager Terry Brown told Kent Online: "Jake Goodman is a fantastic capture who I believe can become the best centre-half in non-league football."

He was pretty much a regular in the team from the start of the season until picking up a three-game ban following his dismissal in the 2-0 home defeat to Oxford City on 12.3.16.

He scored two goals for the club – in a 1-1 draw at home to Bath City on 17.11.15 and in a 2-1 defeat at Maidstone on 2.1.16.

Jake was released by Margate at the end of the season despite having a year to run on his contract.

He spent 2016-17 with Braintree Town and then joined Maidenhead United in June 2017.

He joined Bromley for the 2018-19 season but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury which caused him to miss the entire 2019-20 campaign. For the 2020-21 season, he was with Ebbsfleet United.

In June 2021, Jake joined Dover Athletic and stayed at Crabble until the end of the 2022-23 season when he was released.

In summer 2023, Jake signed for Folkestone Invicta but, prior to the start of the season, joined Sittingbourne on a loan deal. In March 2024, he signed for Burgess Hill Town. Jake joined Hythe Town in summer 2024 but moved to Raynes Park Vale in November 2024. He then joined Phoenix Sports in February 2025.

Early in the 2025-26 campaign, he became player-manager at Phoenix on a temporary basis following the departure of manager Darren Anslow. The appointment was made permanent at the start of October 2025.
