Sam started his career with spells at Kettering Town, Ebbsfleet United, Alfreton Town, Dover Athletic, Kingstonian, Hereford United, Welling United, Basingstoke Town and St Albans City.

He played several games on trial for League Two club Barnet’s under-23 side during 2016-17, signing a one-year deal in March 2017. He made his Football League debut as a sub in a 2-0 home loss against Wycombe Wanderers on 17.4.17. Sam was released by the Bees at the end of the season and signed for Hemel Hempstead Town in October 2017.

Sam joined Margate in August 2018 and made two sub appearances – a 2-0 home defeat against Tonbridge Angels on 25.8.18 and a 0-0 draw at Whitehawk on 27.8.18.

In November 2019, Sam signed for Tonbridge Angels but joined Bedford Town the following month on dual registration. He moved to Wingate & Finchley in October 2020.

Sam is the brother of John who also played for Margate.
