Player Profile:
Product of Wealdstone's PASE youth scheme who progressed to the Stones' reserve team by the 2002-03 campaign. James made his senior debut during 2003-04 and finished the season having scored three times in 27 outings (nine as sub) in the Isthmian League Division 1 North. He was part of the Wealdstone side that won promotion by beating Dulwich on penalties in the Play-Off Final after the game ended 2-2 after extra time.
James was released by the Stones during the 2004-05 campaign after only featuring twice as a substitute for them in the Premier Division and he then joined Southern League club Waltham Forest.
During 2005-06 James played for Hillingdon Borough and was part of their side that lost 3-1 to Nantwich in the FA Vase Final played at Birmingham City's St Andrews stadium on 6.5.06. He stayed with Hillingdon for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns.
In the summer of 2008, James joined Isthmian League Division 1 North outfit Leyton and made seven league appearances for them without scoring before moving on to AFC Hayes during the season.
In March 2009, he played for a Middlesex FA side in a representative match against an Amateur Football Association and James stayed with AFC Hayes until the end of 2008-09.
In the summer of 2009, he joined Southern League Midlands Division club Beaconsfield and James made four appearances for them before signing for Margate at the start of December 2009.
He made his debut as a substitute in a 2-2 draw with Harrow in an Isthmian League Premier Division game played at Hartsdown Park on 5.12.09 and James then made his first start in midfield as Margate travelled to Bognor Regis on 12.12.09. He marked the occasion with a goal as he headed home from a Wayne Wilson corner and the match finished as a 3-3 draw.
For the next couple of months James was a regular in the Margate side and only missed two out of 14 matches following his first start. He made his final appearance as a makeshift left-back in a 3-0 home defeat against Waltham Abbey on 6.3.10 and then left the club to join Southern League Midlands Division outfit Slough having scored once from a total of 14 outings (one as sub).
In the summer of 2010, James moved on to Carshalton but only played three times (once as sub) for the Robins in the Isthmian League Premier Division, scoring once, before leaving the club in March 2011 to rejoin Wealdstone.
Once again he struggled to gain a regular place in the Stones side and James left the club at the end of the 2010-11 season after only featuring in three Premier Division matches (twice as sub).
In the summer of 2011, he signed for Uxbridge of the Southern League Division 1 Central and, at the end of March 2012, James returned to the Isthmian League when he linked up with Hendon - although he didn't feature in any Premier Division games for them before the end of 2011-12.
He joined Division 1 South club Walton & Hersham in August 2012 having featured in their pre-season friendlies and during 2012-13 James captained the Middlesex FA team in several representative matches.
James later went into management. He guided Potters Bar Town to promotion from Isthmian Division One North in 2017-18 before becoming joint manager at Chesham United the following season. He was still in the dugout at Chesham when they beat Margate 2-0 in the FA Cup on 30.9.23.
