Player Profile:

6' 0" tall Thanet-born keeper who made a one-off appearance for Margate as an 19 year-old during the 1952/53 season - in a 1-1 draw away at Faversham on 13.4.53. At the time Gordon was in the RAF and based in King's Lynn.

Gordon stayed at the club for the 1953/54 campaign but only made a handful of reserve team appearances as understudy to Des Cross. The fact that he was still in the RAF meant that it was difficult for him to get to Margate for home games and as a result manager Almer Hall recommended him to King's Lynn FC.

Gordon went on to spend three years with King's Lynn and then returned to Thanet when he was demobbed. He joined Ramsgate and later had a spell with Herne Bay that included the 1957/58 season.

By the 1963/64 campaign Gordon was playing for Birchington in the Kent Amateur League and he spent the 1965/66 season with Thanet Premier Sunday League outfit Northwood.

Gordon died in Thanet on 10.10.11 aged 78.
