Charlie rose through the youth ranks at Hayes & Yeading United, making his first team debut in April 2010 in a Conference National match at Salisbury City aged 19. He became a regular fixture in Hayes & Yeading's defence throughout the following season.

He caught the eye of Crawley Town and made 13 appearances for them in League Two in 2011/12. While at Crawley, Charlie also had loan spells at Fleetwood and Dagenham & Redbridge.

In January 2013 he joined Cambridge United until the end of the season but returned to Hayes the following August.

In February 2014, Charlie signed for Margate. His debut in an Isthmian League match against Thamesmead at Hartsdown on 18.02.14 was memorable as he scored the winner in a 2-1 victory. Charlie made a total of 14 appearances by the end of 2013/14, scoring four goals.

There was controversy following the game at Carshalton on 19.04.14 when it was alleged that he headbutted future Margate team-mate Lewis Taylor - who was with the home side at the time - after the final whistle. Charlie was sent off. Margate had won the match 6-0.

He was a key part of Margate's promotion-winning team in 2014/15, making 42 appearances, scoring one goal in a 3-3 draw at Kingstonian on 28.02.15. Charlie played in the play-off final against Hendon, which earned Margate promotion to Conference South.

Charlie stayed with Margate for 2015/16 and again was a regular fixture at the heart of our defence. He made 34 appearances and scored two goals - one in a 5-1 FA Cup win at Potters Bar on 26.09.15 and another against his old club Hayes & Yeading in a league game on 06.02.16. Charlie was sent off in a home match against Eastbourne Borough on 23.2.16. He left Margate at the end of the season.

Spells at Maidenhead United, Gosport Borough (loan), Kingstonian (loan) and Hampton & Richmond followed before he signed for National League South side Woking in the summer of 2018. There were then loan spells at Metropolitan Police, Leatherhead and Maidstone United. In January 2019, Billericay signed Charlie.

After a loan spell at Hampton, Charlie joined them on a permanent basis in November 2019. In January 2022, Charlie's contract was terminated due to an incident during their fixture with Slough Town on 28.12.21.

He returned to Hayes & Yeading United in the Southern League soon after.

In March 2023, Charlie joined Southern League Gosport Borough on loan for remainder of the season, joining them permanently for 2023-24.
