Player Profile:
Defender born in Chelsea, London, who joined Margate as a reserve team player during the 1980/81 season and stayed with the club when it became Thanet United for the 1981/82 campaign.
Peter made his first-team debut in Thanet's first ever away game, a 1-1 draw at Andover on 22.8.81. He played as a striker and went on make a total of six sporadic appearances (two as sub) during the remainder of the 1981/82 season.
During the 1982/83 campaign, Peter made a further 21 appearances (one as sub) and scored once. He usually played at left-back but also turned out in midfield and at right-back during the season. The Thanet Times said that Peter made "numerous timely interceptions" during a 1-0 defeat at home to Salisbury on 5.3.83 and his goal came in a 2-0 win over Dover at Hartsdown on 26.4.83.
At the start of the 1983/84 season, Peter struggled to gain a regular place in the United side and he only made five appearances before Christmas 1983, usually playing at left-back. The local press praised him for his "fine work" in a 2-1 home defeat against Ashford on 8.10.83 and the Thanet Times described Peter as being "promising". In January 1984, he enjoyed a run of three games at right-back but a midfield appearance in a home game against Addlestone & Weybridge on 4.2.84 was Peter's final start for United. He then found himself back in the reserves until the final game of the 1983/84 campaign when he came on as a substitute in a 2-1 home defeat against Canterbury. That took Peter's appearance tally for the season to ten (one as sub). In the summer of 1984, he left the club and joined Herne Bay for the 1984/85 campaign.
Peter later dropped back into Sunday football and ended his career during the 1990s when he turned out for Thanet League club Margate Athletic Old Boys whose squad of veterans also included a host of other former Margate/Thanet players.
He was managing a local side during the late 1990s and in 2012 Peter was living in Brighton.
Peter then returned to the Thanet area and became a regular spectator at Hartsdown.
