Player Profile:

Sheffield-born defender who started his career with non-league Beighton Miners Welfare before signing for Doncaster in June 1957. Gordon spent a year there before moving to Bristol City in July 1958.

He went on to make 73 first team appearances for the Robins spanning 1958/59 to 1960/61 and then joined Cheltenham in the summer of 1961.

Gordon made 35 appearances for them during the 1961/62 season, scoring two goals, before leaving the country to play for Toronto Italia in Canada.

Gordon then had spells with New York and Vancouver Canadians before returning to England.

He joined Margate immediately after arriving back in Britain in October 1965 and made his debut in a 3-1 win over Wimbledon at Hartsdown Park on 27.9.65. Gordon went on to make 37 appearances without scoring during the 1965/66 season, generally playing at left-back but also featuring in midfield on occasions. He was mostly a consistent performer but on 9.10.65 the local press said that he put in "a wretched display" as Margate lost 2-0 at Chelmsford. At the end of the season Gordon was released after Margate's relegation from the Southern League Premier Division was confirmed and he then returned to Canada.

Gordon initially rejoined Toronto Italia and then played for Hartford Connecticut in the USA.

He was later part of the Canadian National team coaching staff as assistant to the head coach from 1966 to 1969.
