Thanet-born reserve team player who made his first-team debut on the left wing in a Kent Senior Cup tie away at Ashford on 20.1.81 and made two further appearances during the 1980/81 season. Derek also played in the Southern League games at home to Salisbury on 21.2.81 and away to Dartford on 28.2.81.

He then played for Thanet United's reserves during the 1981/82 campaign.

Derek was still living locally in 2012.
