Player Profile:

Skilful right-sided player born in Hazel Grove who started his career with Stockport prior to World War II and made two first team appearances for County during 45/56, both in the FA Cup.

In December 1945 Johnny moved to Millwall and he went on to make over 300 first team appearances spanning the 1946/47 to 1954/55 seasons before joining Tonbridge early in 1955. In November 1955 Johnny went back to Millwall and made a further 15 senior appearances during 1955/56 and 1956/57 before signing for Margate in January 1957 after weeks of negotiations.

Johnny made his debut in a 4-1 defeat at Snowdown on 26.1.57 and went on to become a regular during the remainder of the 1956/57 campaign. He scored three times in a total of 15 appearances and often caught the eye with his tricky wing play.

Johnny was released by the club at the end of the season and joined Canterbury for the start of the 1957/58 campaign. However within months he moved on once more and he was playing for Dover by Christmas 1957.

Johnny also spent the 1958/59 season at Crabble.

He died in 2003.
