Crook-born centre-forward who started his career with Godalming before joining Crystal Palace in 1936. Albert made his Palace debut during the 1936/37 season and stayed with the Eagles until 1948, scoring 23 goals in 88 Football League appearances. He also scored over 100 goals for Palace in wartime league and cup matches and, in each of the first three seasons of the competitions, he was the club's top scorer. In addition, Albert turned out for Clapton Orient as a guest player during the war, scoring six goals in seven wartime appearances, including a hat-trick in a 5-3 defeat at Walsall in September 1945.
After leaving Crystal Palace, Albert dropped into non-league football to join Tunbridge Wells and, in the summer of 1949, he moved on to Guildford City. Albert was a professional there and a popular player with the Guildford faithful. In two seasons with City, he scored 29 goals in 99 appearances before being released at the end of the 1950/51 season.
Albert then joined Margate in June 1951 and made his debut in a 0-0 draw with Whitstable at Hartsdown Park on 18.8.51, the opening day of the 1951/52 campaign. He went on to make ten appearances during the early part of the season and scored seven times, including a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Canterbury at Hartsdown on 8.9.51. However, Albert then found himself out of favour and left the club.
He died aged 73 in Croydon, Surrey, during January 1990.
