Player Profile:

Locally-born product of Dane Court School who played regularly for Margate Colts in the Thanet Premier Sunday League during the 1975/76 season and also turned out for Margate's reserve side. David sometimes played as an outfield player for them and he also made a one-off appearance for the first-team during the campaign.

David played in goal in a Kent Floodlight Trophy tie at Ramsgate on 8.4.76 and, although Margate lost 1-0, he gave a "thoroughly competent display" according to the Thanet Times. Although Margate's reserve team was disbanded for financial reasons at the end of the season, David carried on playing for Margate's youth side during the 1976/77 campaign and won the Banks Cup awarded to the club's best young player.

He then played for the reserves once more when they were reinstated for the 1977/78 season. In January 1978, David fractured his knee-cap during an England Schoolboys trial in London but he recovered to play for Margate's youth and reserve sides once more during the 1978/79 campaign.

He later played many seasons of local amateur football and won the Thanet and District League's 'Player of the Year' award for 1982/83. He also had a spell with Ramsgate during the 1984/85 campaign. David was the Rams' regular keeper during the season.

He later became a referee in local football and was working as a bank manager in 2003. As a youth, he was also a talented rugby player.
