Player Profile:

Tall defender widely known as 'Ticker' who started his career with Queens Park Rangers. During the 1953/54 campaign, Cyril made seven reserve team appearances for the R's and also had a spell on loan at Athenian League club Wealdstone. He made a further 21 reserve team appearances during 1954/55 but Cyril never made QPR's first-team and at the end of the season he was given a free transfer.

Cyril joined Ramsgate in the summer of 1955 and went on to spend four successful seasons with the Rams, helping them to win the Kent League twice and playing in their FA Cup tie at Watford during 1955/56.

Cyril left Southwood to join Margate for the 1959/60 campaign and made his debut at centre-back in the first match of the season - a 3-2 win over Cambridge United at Hartsdown Park on 22.8.59. It was Margate's first post-war game in the Southern League. Cyril then found himself in the reserves for almost all of what remained of 1959, playing only once more for the first-team before Christmas. In January 1960, he got back into the senior side when an injury to left-back Terry Joyce led to regular centre-back Ray Chatham moving to the number three shirt temporarily. Cyril made three appearances, the last of them in a 3-0 defeat at Merthyr Tydfil on 16.1.60, before returning to the reserves for the rest of the season.

He was released in May 1960.
