Player Profile:

Born in Lambeth, Dean started his career at Arsenal as a youngster. He was signed by Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle in June 2005. He spent a month on loan with Hartlepool United in 2005-06 before being recalled due to an injury crisis at Ipswich.

He scored the winning goal for Ipswich on 14.2.06 in a 2-1 Championship victory at home to Crewe Alexandra.

In May 2006, he signed for League One club Gillingham on a two-year contract. He scored the winner on his debut in a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town at Priestfield on 5.8.2006.

In July 2007, despite having a year left on his contract with the Gills and having scored six goals in 26 appearances, Dean agreed terms to join Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle. However, he found appearances hard to come by in Scotland and his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in July 2008.

Dean then signed for Conference National side Rushden & Diamonds. He was loaned to Grays Athletic from November 2008 until January 2009.

He was released by Rushden and signed by Northwich Victoria on non-contract terms. However, he left Northwich after manager Steve King departed in February 2009. This led to a short spell at Tooting & Mitcham United until the end of the 2008-09 season.

Farnborough of the Southern League Premier was Dean’s club in 2009-10 and his good form in front of goal earned him a trial at Championship side Swansea City. The trial went well but the two clubs were unable to agree a fee for Dean as he had one year left on his contract.

In June 2011, Dean joined Isthmian Premier side Carshalton Athletic. After a brief spell at Billericay Town, Dean signed for Conference National side Macclesfield Town in January 2013. Dean started the 2013-14 campaign at Conference South side Sutton United but, in September, signed a short-term deal with Billericay Town.

Dean joined Margate in December 2013, making his debut in a 2-2 draw at home to Hampton & Richmond on 21.12.13. He made a total of five appearances for the club without scoring before leaving in February. He then signed for Whitehawk.

Dulwich Hamlet signed Dean at the start of the 2014-15 season but was released ahead of the 2015-16 campaign. He continued to train with the club, however, and returned to the first-team for their FA Cup win over Hampton & Richmond Borough on 12.9.15. Dean was once again released by Dulwich in March 2016.

He joined Isthmian Premier side Merstham for 2016-17. He was reunited with former manager Steve King when he joined Welling United at the start of the 2018-19 season but was released in October 2018.

In May 2019, Dean returned to Whitehawk but left before the season started. In October 2019, Dean represented England in the six-a-side World Cup in Crete, losing in the quarter-finals.

Dean then had spells at Egham Town and SCEFL sides Erith & Belvedere and Meridian VP.
