Local reserve team player who made two first-team appearances during the 1970/71 season. Alan's debut was a Kent Floodlight Cup tie against Bexley at Hartsdown on 18.1.71.

He continued to play for the reserves during the 1971/72 campaign and also played twice more for the first-team. Alan's first appearance was in a Kent Floodlight Cup tie at Hastings on 13.10.71 and he also played as Margate lost 3-1 at Canterbury in another floodlight cup match on 21.3.72. He had the distinction of scoring Margate's consolation goal.

Alan continued playing for the reserves during the 1972/73 and 1973/74 seasons and then dropped into local amateur football.

He later returned to Hartsdown to play for Margate Reserves during the 1980/81 season and finished as their top scorer.

Alan stayed at Hartsdown to play for Thanet United Reserves during the 1981/82 season and was their leading marksman once again, scoring over 25 goals.

He played the last football of his career during the 1990's when he turned out for Thanet League club Margate Athletic Old Boys whose squad of veterans also included a host of other former Margate/Thanet players.

In 2009, he was still living locally and played golf at the St Augustine's club just outside Ramsgate.
