Player Profile:
Midfielder Alfie was a product of Margate’s youth set-up who lived five minutes from Hartsdown. He made his Margate first-team debut in an Isthmian League Cup semi-final against Hendon held at Harrow Borough on 11.3.15. Margate lost the game 2-1. It was his only appearance in the 2014-15 season.
His next Margate appearance was not until 22.10.16 when he came on as a sub in a 5-1 home defeat against Concord Rangers.
He was named man of the match for his performance in an FA Trophy tie against East Thurrock at Hartsdown on 26.11.16. With a shortage of players, Alfie had been drafted into the side as an emergency centre-half in a match that finished 1-1. He told Kent Online: "It was difficult but I had Brett (Johnson) next to me and Tums (Aaron Tumwa) and the goalkeeper (Valerie Pajetat) talking to me for the 90 minutes."
Alfie was stretchered off during a 2-0 defeat at Maidenhead United on 3.12.16. Manager Nikki Bull told Kent Online: "They thought at first that he had broken his ankle, but it turned out to be bone bruising which will probably keep him out for a couple of weeks or so."
In January 2017, Alfie signed a contract with Margate until the end of the 2016-17 season. He made a total of 12 appearances during the campaign, half of them as a sub. Towards the end of the season, he had a loan spell with Chatham Town of Isthmian League Division One South.
He featured in Margate's pre-season matches for 2017-18 but, after a brief spell with Chatham, joined SCEFL side Deal Town. He went on to make more than 250 appearances for Deal, helping them to the SCEFL title in 2023-24. He scored for Deal in a 3-3 friendly draw at Hartsdown on 8.7.23.
