Player Profile:

Versatile player born in Devonport, Plymouth, who had a spell with Motherwell towards the end of World War II when he was stationed there during his army service.

Arthur joined Margate for the 1947/48 season and became a regular in the reserves. He also made a single first-team appearance, playing in midfield in a 2-1 Kent League Cup win at Lloyds Paper Mills on 17.4.48.

Arthur continued to turn out for the reserves during the 1948/49 campaign and also made one first-team appearance, playing at centre-back in a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Sheppey on 6.11.48.

In later years Arthur worked for Thanet Press before founding the Tyler School of Motoring which operated locally. He was living in Broadstairs at the time of his death aged 79 on 19.1.05.

During his time in the army, Arthur was part of a unique family feat when he, his older brother Reg (who also played for Margate), another brother Vic and their father Edwin were all physical training instructors in the PT Corps at the same time.
