Player Profile:

Canterbury-born centre-forward named David but universally known as 'Buddy' who worked as a window cleaner in the city.

Buddy joined the newly-formed Canterbury City from local amateur club Burnap's for the 1947/48 season before moving on to Snowdown Colliery Welfare during 1948/49. He made his debut for Snowdown in a match against his old club Canterbury at Bretts Corner and had a sensational game, scoring four times in a 6-3 win.

In December 1949, Buddy joined Margate and made his debut on 17.12.49, scoring in a 3-1 Kent League win away to Aylesford Paper Mills. However, he only played twice more for the first-team before moving on.

He later played for Sittingbourne alongside the likes of Peter Vandepeer and Ron Austin before returning to Canterbury for a spell that included the 1952/53 and 1953/54 seasons.

Buddy was still living in the Canterbury area in 2009.
